  1. Thank you Gents I will troll off to superwinch and pose them my tec questions and thanks for the link to the previous forum "Recovery man", I did a forum search but that one did not come up!
  2. Hi guy's, I'm new around here so sorry if I'm in the ladies loo instead of the right forum so to speak! I have a superwinch husky 8, it stopped working about 2 years ago and I have just got round to having a look at it prior to putting it back on my new 90 XS .... Now the fun bit, the motor (12v) looks like I just got it off a sunken WW2 Uboat as its a solid lump of rust (I joke not) The question or questions I would like to pose you all is where can I get spares? ... Superwinch I guess but is there anywhere else? I qualified as a MV engineer back in the 60's so repair and re-engineer were the orders of the day back then and still are for me today and because of that grounding I have an inquisitive mind and that makes me ask the next question ... at the splined end on the armature there is a sealed bearing where it enters the gear housing and I guess the seal could/does stop the lubricant passing from the gear housing and into the motor itself providing the bearing is sealed itself into the casting .... my question is why does the lubricant not pass down the armature shaft between it and the inner race of the bearing as its an "easy" fit? I've looked at the "poor" parts list and I cannot see what I think should be there, my armature shaft has a groove in it directly under where the bearing sits and to my eye its a groove just meant for an "O" ring which would eliminate my worry but try as I might I can find no reference to such a thing, so I ask you worldly people if any of you can shine a torch in my dark place. Regards ... wavejunkie
