  1. The electronic compression test is done with an Oscilliscope. You use a current clamp around the main battery lead whilst cranking the engine.A healthy engine will show a row of equal peaks indicating equal compression as the starter works harder to push the pistons to TDC. It is a very useful aid with TD5's as the ecu is quite clever at masking faults by compensating fuelling. Bent conrods are very common.....

thanks mate! hopefully its not a conrod :blink:

  2. Think I'd do an electronic compression test on it.

    how do you do this?

i dont think its engine related as in mechanical, but im open to try anything atmo.

it was on a dyno 2months ago made plenty of power 86.9kw at the wheels, service agent couldnt find any fault..

    cheers phil

  3. The air filter isn't an oiled type is it ?

In real money I make your fuel consumption to be around 16 mpg... ! That means it's putting in twice the amount of fuel you'd expect. Are you sure you've not got a hole in the fuel tank ? Someone in the neighbourhood siphoning fuel out at night ?

ive owned the car for 15 000k's now no leak and its locked up at night. the economy is worse than a V8!!

  4. ive got a 2003 D2a HSE auto 170 000 on the clock full service histroy.

ever since i bought it it has used excessive amounts of diesel! my average is now 18L/100klm...

with stock ecu map in 18L/100 with a BAS map in 18L/100.

towing my 850kg camper still 18L/100.....

the disco has sliders, a front ARB sahara bar, no winch, dual batts, rear draws(10kg) and a full length roof rack(35kg)

the tyres are 255 70 R16 km2's (25mm taller than the 255 85 R18)so i doubt weight and gearing have any part in it.

it has an egr blank kit, sillicon intercooler hoses, modified OE exhaust(no OE mufflers or kat, has 2x 330mm hotdogs) finer filter air filter (foam type)

    ive just replaced the

CAS, tried it with and without the spacer

new OE MAF, MAP, boost modulator and have tried 2 second hand IAP sensors.

new britpart injector harness, there is no signs of oil at the ecu at all, even behind the white plug cover piece.

ive even checked the injector codes were correct and tried a second set of injectors!!!

the rear diff has been replaced disc to disc, the front center has just been rebuilt, all bearingd and break callipers were checked

    also.

the auto has been serviced in the last 10 000k's(oil and filter) and shifts and locks as it should.

i have a nanocom and often check the engine values, nothing seams out of limits.

i do have a mis at idle, a drop of 50-80rpm at uneven intervals...this has gotten worse since the new inj harness and CAS and spacer.

motor dosnt use oil or coolant...

the egt's max out at 750deg stock map and fly through 850deg with the bas mapping

the fuel pressure i get between 3.8-4.2bar.

about the only sensor i have to replace is the speed sensor in the auto..

any help would be most welcome!

  5. Hello,

Just spoken to Steve (Innovation4x4) - they are at Billing-

Apparently, all been sorted.. trouble was at customs... the new set of arches has been sent. You should get them within days.

so I'm just passing the message and hope you get what you ordered.

Steve and Barry are very nice chaps and always make sure the customer is happy... but you cannot always get 100% perfect results...

(PS: I don't work for/with Innovation4x4... but they are friends...)

buggered if i know! its been ''within days'' and still no flares. are they packing eckies in them?? is that why im not getting them....

    this is really ****ting me...

  6. Its a shame to see a post like this as i've personally delt with Barry before and never had a problem.

I'm not convinced that trading standards will help as you are not in the country - have you though that the arches might be sitting in customs???

i work for a company that deals closley with customs, as far as customs is concerned they are not in australia....

thanks western, i'll send trading standards an email and see what they say.

    cheers phil

  7. 98 days ago i paid for 2 sets of flares from innovation 4x4!

98 days later im still being fed b%$@s^!t via email and phone!

should i continue sending emails on their whereabouts or should i send my bank after my money??

the first 2 sets were ''lost'' and the second sets were to be sent by air..... bloody plane must have crashed or joined the crew of lost.....

    suggestions??

    cheers phil :angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:

  8. Phil, which LRA springs do you have now ?

Purple and purple/orange are exactly the same rate, so it won't be any stiffer, just 1" taller.

hey mate, i threw oranges in the front and purples in the rear. from standard this combo gave me 60mm.

    OE rears were 210/240lb

    and fronts were 175lb

thanks 898kor for the pick and link!

    cheers phil

  9. the mount of the shocks to the frame is different from the original positition, you have even to relocate the fuel filter. And that makes the shock operation very degressive

got any pic's of the mount??

ive been told that the more angle on the shock the less effective it is at dampening??

if this is true i was thinking of cutting a whole in the wheel box, above the oe shock position, and going up not forward?

The 2" springs fitted to my disco (when I bought it) are too stiff. The longest LRA springs are 18" from memory.

    hey bush65,

i have LRA's 17'' springs, i was looking at the 18'' ones but they would be way too stiff for a 90!

wish there were more people with landy bits on australia

    cheers phil

  10. do any of you guys know much about the max traction coil kits??

what are the pro's and con's?

ive got 3'' lift, 10'' and 11'' stroke shocks, ext bumpstops and brake lines, raised front and rear shock mounts. basically everything in their kit minus the coils!

ide like to get the coils made here in australia, but havint some more info on the springs would help.

atmo my 450mm free height springs wil sit 4 inches above the bottom spring plate on articulation :o

i was hoping that by using a spring like theirs it might make the front ''work'' a bit more?

    cheers phil
