  1. Seems easy enough, I'm wanting to change it as at the moment my intercooler not plumbed in and I'm finding it difficult to do so with all the angles and lengths being different to a standard defender 200Tdi setup, I figured that if I changed to a Disco manifold then I could use the same array of hoses and pipes that several people I know have used when converting their defenders to disco 200Tdi's.

  2. Hey All,

I have a 1989 110 with a Disco 200Tdi fitted by the previous owner who fitted it with a defender inlet manifold as can be seen here by the fact that my turbo is right at the top.

I would like to change this to the proper discovery inlet manifold so that the turbo sits lower down in the proper discovery position as can be seen here.

It is simply a case of sourcing a Disco 200Tdi inlet manifold then moving the turbo and swapping it all over?

Also what changes (if any) are likely to be made to the exhaust down pipe?

    Any comments / advice welcome,

    Thanks,

    Gavin

  3. I had this problem a while ago.

In the end I try the brute force method and it worked. I slackened off the nut holding the wheel on but DID NOT REMOVE IT, then hit each of the four spoke (I assume you got the same wheel) from the outside, after a few hit I tried wiggleig the wheel off and it soon came off, not problem.

Leaving the nut on means that the wheel doesn't smack you in the face!

  4. ...adjust the steering box, but no more that 1/4 of a turn at a time...

Not wanting to hi-jack but does adjusting it any more than that in one go damage the steering box? I ask as mines had play for a while now and it seems every time to resolved by tightening the steering box. It'll be tight today but after three or four days use will be slack again. I've recently polybushed but will still double check for excess play and movement in them.

  5. Hey All,

I've been offered a superwinch EPi 9.0 and was wondering what you guys think of them, they any good.

It'll mainly be used for light self recovery and dragging the 110 up and down the drive when it a no goer.

It's going for around £200, does this sound about right?

    Any thoughts / suggestions welcome.

    Thanks

    Gavin

  6. LMAO

    What so funny Ozzie?

I removed my rear view mirror as I find it obstructs my view to the front / front left. It sat right at eye level meaning I'd have to duck to look out the left hand side of the windscreen. Also the fact that it had was magnified meant that with all the wobble and vibration you get in a Land Rover I couldn't see enough detail in it to make it useful.

I will be fitting a LCD screen wired to reversing camera when funds permit.

  7. From this and a chat with a few a friends, it appears that there is a greater number of drivable beaches in Wales compared to else where in the country. I think the other half is thinking of making Wales one of out places to go, will have to see where we end up.

As for the sea salt issue. I wasn't thinking of going anywhere near the sea itself, not only because of the effects of the sea salt but also the increased risk of getting stuck. Also tbh I not that fond of water.

  8. Hey All,

I'm starting to think about my hols for later this year and was wondering if anyone knew anything about driving on beaches?

I ask as I seem to recall my Dad (many years ago when I was young) driving on a beach with several other cars in Wales but can't find any information to suggest anything other than that it's illegal. Another thing that triggered me to look into this was the '20 Top Green Lanes' booklet issued with last months LROi magazine, one of the lanes featured was on a beach, are there any others?

    Any advice/thoughts welcome,

    Thanks in advanced,

    Gavin

  9. Hey All,

For a while now (well since I bought it nearly two years ago) the front N/S wheel gets covered in grease leaking from the hub in the centre of the wheel.

Firstly what is likely to have caused this and how would I go about stopping it and preventing it happening again?

    Thanks in advanced,

    Gavin

  10. What about using a 110 High Cap and rear chassis.

Cut the main chassis rails under the seats, bend then together to form an a-frame, rear axle can be used in place as suspension linkage would still hold. Then use a sankey hitch to link up the brakes.

It is an idea I want to try some time, just need the money and space.
