  1. Reet, I've checked under oil cap both cold & hot and there's nothing untoward happening, can just feel a slight pulse but very, very, slightly. As said in original post, uses virtually no oil & water. It's also done 138,000 miles, but that's according to clocks (it's an '89 F so presume it started with a 200tdi??)
  2. Cheers guys, I'll check with oil cap cold & warm after work. It's not had cam belt done yet (well, to my knowledge anyway) I was planning on doing it myself come spring so I know it's done. Plus service as I don't know when all filters have been changed. Oil wise, it's probably used half a litre since I've had it (2months) and that includes a couple of 2-3 hour motorway runs at a constant 70 in strong head winds, (that was fun for fuel!)
  3. Hi guys, I'm new here, new to Defender's & new to diesels so please go easy on me! I've tried having a search before asking, but could find nothing of any use. Basically, the problem I've got is on cold starts in a morning, she fires up, but seemingly only on 3 cylinders & a little puffy with smoke. Give a a few blips of throttle & it clears, but then for the first 1/4 mile or so, if I encounter any downhills or slight coast with foot just touching throttle, I get a fog of white smoke. After this, everything is totally fine & just normal running. This only happens after it's been left overnight, not after being parked at work for over 10 hours. I'd thought possibly a glow plug wasn't working (hence 3cylinders when first starting) letting unburnt diesel pass through exhaust, but I've put a full new set in & it's the same. I've not got anywhere as far as checking cylinder pressure etc yet, but has anyone any ideas/seen this issue before?? Cheers Steve
