High when I engaged the diff lock no light comes on i've checke the bulb and it works so i was just wondering how to check the difflock is engaged. Is it just a case of jacking the veihcle up and turning the wheels. Also the switch that shows it's engaged on the transfer box is it more likely to be that once again cheers cooney

Now i have the old girl fixed (until the speedo started to play up today ) I was thinking of going to the alps in the summer with a tent and a map and having a drive round. I don't realy know where to start which track, where to go, local rule's etc. etc. My map reading fine and i'm used to being in the middle of no where and can live in the wilds (just think ray meers lol) but would like a track no too hard but with a few bumps, and maybe a couple or three days in the alps anyone has any ideas would be great. Thinking of being away about a week ad a half from blighty.

My reply in no such way meant that you should do away with safety to have an arguement with an MOT tester. The whole point of my reply was that just because the MOT tester fails it doesn't automatically mean that it is law and has to be done. The whole point was to show that are appeal systems if you feel that you have been unfairly failed. My interpretation of the first post was that this was what he had felt as it stated only surface rust and not heavily corroded. Can't state enough that safety should come first, but you will find some MOT stations out there will fail it to try to get the work out of you. I shall finish my rant now and storm off in a huff.
after my last mot i have to agree with you safty first but also common sence mine had a bit of surface rust cleaned it up greased it no worries at next mot and i still stop

thanks for all the hints, thats it though. It,s fixed and only one small fire during the welding and a foam party afterwards in the back of the disco. So off to austria tomorrow lets hope we make it. Up till midnight on tuesday getting it ready for another mot flew through and all smiles so back in a week lets hope.

try excalibur 4x4 in needham market, darren is a top bloke, mansfield charge nearly as much as main stealers by the time you get the final bill.
cheers would do but the car at work in plymouth
-
Are you in suffolk at the mo? Any reason you didn't take it to Mansfields?
the cars in plymouth at the momment otherwize would have gone somewhere else
-
I would never take a vehicle to a main agent for the MOT - they always slaughter them.
Les.
yep lesson learned not a problem to fix as the workshop on camp owes me but never never again

well i gave up on the light on the abs and sent me old girl down to the local dealers to get them to do it. At the same time i booked it in foe an MOT hurra after spending quit a bit on the last one i thought she would sail through with a couple of minnor fault. No way there tester got near it an now all my breake pipes are shot new rear pads and disc lots of welding (3 patches) front pads and a split pin. My mate whos a qualified tester thought the brake pipes was harse and a couple of the points that needed wedded were outside the area that needed to be safe. But i did get a chucckle from the dealers when i walked in to pick the old girl up (your the lad with the 200 000 mile landrover ha/ha) and 250 quid later for and mot and a fault run on my abs light i love how cheap they are but aleast my light s are out rear brakes allready done the rest is for monday
Ok What Now??

Is it a 300tdi abs can be reset with a paper clip take the abs relay out. then I think find the green and red lead on the diagnostic plug in under the drivers seat earth it with the paper clip to the black lead second one in and wait for the blink code to start blinking it'll be up to four then anything up to 14 so example 3 blink then 12 on the 12 blinks remove the wire and this will reset error on abs. Search this site I think there is a better description than this but just a note to say it possible . repeat for all error until it has cleared all the stored faults.
