Thanks,it was a friend of mine.When i say coolant i just mean the water i think.He also did oil and brake fluid.

Hi bought a Freelander tds 1951cc privately on fri.Seemed to be driving well,and was real chuffed,but my first proper run of about 8-10 miles and i noticed steam coming from under the bonnet.Water from the coolant bottle seeems to be getting hot and rising in the bottle before evaporating as steam leaving the bottle empty of water.When i fill it it sits in bottle fine,until engine running and water seems to get hot again before escaping as steam.Had all the coolant,break fluid,oil levels done the day previous.Is it possible a hose could be knocked loose or something.Was absolutly loving it.Don't want my 4x4 fun finished before i start..Thanks in advance.Heading to the garage tomorrow

Hi newly purchased a 2001 1951cc tds diesel freelander.Seemed to be running ok,but today done a journey of about 8 miles,and noticed steam coming from water coolant bottle,which had all but evaporated.After topping up i got home,only for the water to go again as the engine got hot,the water in coolant bottle,seemed to get really hot and be released as steam.Only bought it friday,was loving it,but now looks heading to a garage.Just wondered if anyone has any ideas,to what could be problem.....thanks very much in advance.
