alantd
Just picked up my new Defender. I was chatting to the dealer and he was rattling off a bunch of improvements they've made: ...heater 40% something, engine 20% something else, steel doors... Wait a moment?! Steel doors?! Apparently in order to improve the strength of the door and hence they're fit (and feel when you close them) they're now made of steel. Not sure I like that. I was rather pleased with my old aluminium ones - gave me a smug satisfaction that they'd be around for a while. Still, they definitely close with a *thunk* now and seem to fit better than my TD5. I can also report that the heater is definitely 40% something as well.
TJ101
Yep ,,, Steel doors, now they will rust, rather than corrode !! Would also give the door seals a check,, Certainly the rear, if you hare any
alantd
Are the seals not quite the full shilling? I had them install chequer plate on it, which they did. However, it was raised so much by the passenger door that you couldn't open it! Flattened now so all the doors work - useful. Lovely to drive! A world apart from the TD5. I keep needing to remind myself which gear I'm in - the short throw box doesn't make it as obvious.
TJ101
Ah , another 110 XS,, On the l/h/rear door, my seal was flapping in the wind, fitted where it touched !!! Drive the new 110 for a couple of weeks, Then a TD5 for a day or so, you will appreciate the 07 even more
