andymach23 Posted June 4, 2008 Share Posted June 4, 2008 The car runs well until it reaches 3k when the engine note changes. It sounds rough and seems to vibrate more. It keeps accelerating though but keeps this harsh note. The vibration isn't too bad but seems to start just at 3K. Iv'e got about 119K on a year 2000 TD5. Thinking it was maybe the wastegate sticking, I had a look and right enough, it was sticking a bit. I oiled it and now the car goes better from 1.5K to 3K but I still get the harshness starting at bang on 3K. The harshness and vibration may be a bit less pronounced though. I have also blanked my EGR and cleaned the MAP sensor. Both these things also helped the car. Particularly the MAP sensor clean. The change in engine note makes me think that something happens in the engine at this point. Can anyone with a TD5 comment if their's does this?
