Tom_b
Hiya Guys & Gals First post on here after viewing for a while. I will soon be undertaking a re-chassis project with the aim of putting a TD5 Engine in and just wondered if anyone knew of the rough price i am looking at paying for a fully Reconditioned unit? As i am sure from reading the below some will realize i am really new to the whole landy scene as far as working on them goes but i take it the side panels, roof and rear panels just bolt onto to a 90 tub to make a hardtop model or have i got it all wrong.? NicTheOrange90
Hi Tom, Unless you have the Td5 already you will need all the ECU's and wiring harness to add one ! What engine is in the vehicle at present? Yes to body parts, they are fairly straight forward to attach and you might even do it so the landy does not leak ! I obtained a brand new galvo TD5 90 Chassis and therefore just assumed the TD5 would be the easiest unit to install onto it. I am going to use an up-rated ECU and will probably have the loom custom made as i do not want all the standard features on the TD5 but want to add a few of my own. As for the body panels, i did think that was the case but just wanted to be sure. Anyone know what sort of price i am looking at for a fully-recon TD5 engine, i might even get a second hand unit and strip and re-build if i can find somewhere reputable with the relevant over-haul parts. NicTheOrange90
You could try getting one from here http://www.partsgateway.co.uk, you tell then what you want (although they assume you have a vehicle and threfore ask for a reg number but you can get around this). You could get the Td5 and even see it running before its removed or you can get warranty.. Ive used http://www.a1landroverbreakers.co.uk/ (they are one of the breakers that PartsGateway use and they were fab, speedy delivery and warranty! I think what i am going to do is just buy the individual components to do an engine overhaul and do it like that, i can also add some goodies into what i put back in. Im going to contact a1landroverbreakers and see if they have the panels i am after. Thanks for the heads up on that! What is the best in hand (book not CD rom) that i can buy to help me through this restoration/built project. Thanks Tom
