discovery_dan
Hello, I am hoping that someone can help me, I have a leaking transfer gearbox rear output shaft oil seal. I have bought a new seal and flange to repair it but I wanted to know if it is likely that excessive end float is causing the leak? If the leak is ususally due to excessive end float, and not just a seal failure, does anyone know how to adjust the end float on an LT230 Disco transfer box?? I have checked the breather and it is clear. Thank you very much for the advice! Dan
Les Henson
Preload is set on the inner bearing only by turning a threaded adjuster as shown in this picture- The outer (nose) bearing is just fitted in the housing. Thread on replacing the outer bearing and seal is here- http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=6917 Les.
