new fuel cut off solenoid

Just fitted a new item but have noticed engine doesnot always turn off with the key, it seems to get about 2v from somewhere but will die if i pull the spade connector off, when the key is switched on it seems to get the 12v,any ideas would be mutch apreciated

This is almost certainly the fault of the infamous ignition warning light resistor - search the forum, as there are many recent posts on it. A diode in the right place fixes the issue.
