Discovery Rebuild

After weeks of deliberating and putting off the inevitable I decided to try and fix the known problems prior to getting my discovery through an MOT.

hopefully attached is a photo showing the extent of the corrosion under the battery tray, instead of (as most sensible people would do) removing the bare minimum to gain access I seemed to get a bit excited and started stripping down the entire front end

Not the best photo but you get the idea, all the welding could be done from inside I reckon, however my disco now looks like this:

more photos to follow once I actually start trying to repair the bad boy

theres plenty of other stuff to crack on with mind you, not just a bit of welding! Going over tonight to remvoe the front bumper and bend it straight, being on a budget of zero I might get excited and try to reinforce it a bit so it can have a recovery point attached( no winch yet - budgetary restraints)and also so the plastic end caps attach and stay on properly.

I also nearly wet myself when I saw the state of the radiator, all the little metal fins between the water channels have corroded away leaving just the larger bars which carry the water from tank to tank - I couldn't believe it still works like this, so thats another thing due for removal/replacement at somepoint soon. I took a picture of this but it was so fuzzy you can barely recognise its a radiator let alone any other details
