Jack Magnum
Time for a bit of thinking "outside the box". Instead of starting with a rust-rotten 3 door, and spending months welding etc, the thought occurred to me: Start with a decent 5 door Disco 1, and change the rear panels to a 3 door. I've got a photo of the assembly line showing a body without the outer panels, and the inference is that the same basic structure was used for both 3 & 5 door variant. Has anyone out there done this? Anybody got any experience, knowledge or wild guesses if this is possible?
cipx2
There's a thread in the tech archive on how to remove/refit the rear quarter panels (rqp) on both 3 and 5 door.
Jack Magnum
Thanks for your help. Finally found it The Land Rover Forum>Vehicles>Discovery Forum "Removal of Quarter Panel" Posted 11 December 2008
gripper
why not just keep it as a 5 door? much easier to get in the back and you don't have to change the front seat mounts. if it's solid in the usual places you shouldn't have any trouble.
