boiler man Posted March 8, 2010 Share Posted March 8, 2010 im getting the urge to fabricate a winch bumper for my 300tdi disco. im an experienced welder with 185 argon mig. ive designed a plan using styles from 'leading manufacturers'. will be making main winch tray and mounting arms from 5mm plate, rest from 3mm rolled channel steel. what id like to know is have any of you guys taken on simular project? are then any particular requirements to consider? havnt bought the winch yet, can anyone give me dimentions of 12v winches, i.e. overall width and depth of basic winch so i can accomodate tray to fit. built some super solid rock sliding sills with tree fenderbars last week. really do look great! will post pics soon. many thanks.
