Ferrett
Just spent 4 hours removing the fuel tank in my 2001 MY Defender 90 TD5 so that I can remove the cross-member. Rave and Haynes both mention two bolts at the front of the tank that secure it to a cross-member....on mine its not there. Instead there are four bots at the base of the tank that secure a steel guard/carrier and two bolts through the rear cross-member that secure the same guard/carrier. The tank is held in by the small space and that when the guard is fitted nothing can move. Hope this helps the head scratching for someone else. Blood, sweat and tears......oh and a gob full of diesel trying to syphon the tank
