Air suckinmg noise under load

Hi, I've got a 1994 300TDI that has developed a strange noise this morning.

Whilst driving along I suddenly realised than when the engine is under load (e.g. going up hill and accelerating) there is a sucking noise. It sounds to be coming from the passenger side behind the glove box and the wierd thing is that when I reach my target speed and throttle back, the niose disappears completely.

The sucking noise is quite loud and I can't see any hoses that are detacted or broken. The noise does not occur when the vehicle is stationary and I rev the engine. power seems to be a bit down compared to yesterday as well.

Any suggestions of where to look?

Thanks, Dave

Hello

Just read your post after having exactly the same thing happen on my 200tdi discovery.

Did you get to the bottom of it?

Thanks,

Mike
