bobed90
Hope someone out there can help. I have a 200tdi discovery fitted with a 300tdi R380 gearbox. Reverse gear has always been a little awkward but today it just would not engage the gear. I can get all of the other gears absolutely fine but reverse appears to be non existant, almost as if the something has blocked the position. Im hopefull that this is something that can be easily sorted without dropping the gearbox, access from the top doesnt look to bad. I look forward to your response. regards Jason
DDO173
could be the little plastic 'donut' at the bottom of the gear stick in the top of the box. These can often break up making it stiff or impossible to get certain gears. Relatively easy to see from the top of the box if you remove some interior trim and the rubber diaphram that the gearstick pokes through. bobed90
I hope your right as that sounds an easy fix. I have a spare box so i will swap the top off of it. thanks
peterdon
Does the gear lever sit in the right place i.e. between third and fourth? If not, it may be the bias plate or spring broken. Relatively easy fix from above.
