Inlet and exhaust tappet gap on the 300TDi engine is 0.20mm.

There's a sequence to doing it that minimizes the amount of times you have to turn the crank/the possibility of missing one.

When one valve is fully open, then another is closed with the peak of the cam lobe 180-deg from the rocker pad. In this position the gap is wide as it can be, and the it can be checked and adjusted if necessary.

Valves are numbered 1-to-8 from the front of the engine

valve open .................Adjust

6........................................ 3

4.........................................5

7.........................................2

1.........................................8

3.........................................6

5.........................................4

2.........................................7

And the easy way to turn the engine is to jack up the driver side wheel, put the gearbox in 5th and turn the wheel while looking at the rockers.

If you find a clearance of about .9mm instead of .2 mm, then check that the valve stem cover hasn't broken, leaving just a ring behind. It happens quite often.
