300tdi exhaust system on a 200tdi engine

Recommended Posts

I am looking to purchase a exhaust system for my 200tdi. I plan to fit it to my Landrover lightweight hybrid that will have the 200 installed in it. My basis for the exhaust would be a 90 200tdi system, cut and shut at various places so as to fit my reduced wheelbase. (I am also removing the centre silencer and fitting a straight performance pipe).

I understand that the 200 system is very complicated and has a strange back box on it where the inlet is on the same end of the outlet. I was kind of thinking about fitting a 300 or even a td5 system as they look more simpler and tidier. What are the advantages of having this type of back box anyway? Is it for increased back pressure, or artifically making system longer?

The 90 Td5 also looks like a good candidate as it is of a bigger bore!!

Any ideas or thoughts?

Try the late 300TDI one as this only uses the mid box

then just a bit of fabrication to get the down pipe from the 200 to fit the 300 system

TD5 has Huge boxes and I'd avoid personally.

my own exhaust is just one smaller mid box added to avoid the crawler gearbox

hi White90

Are you running a Disco/Def 200 or 300tdi engine?

If using a 200 did you notice any difference in power characheristics?

How if i wanted to fit a (SS Silencer Replacement Pipe - Def 90 300TDI to TA999221 - PERFORMANCE

PM951) ? That would be straight through! Or does this only fit early 300tdi?

I'm not that bothered by a slight increase in loudness!

Cheers.
