  1. It's a deer hunters cottage...there is nice "test" swap a front of it..
  2. Which level accomodation you want?? Basic level is in school where are 4 beds in a room. Showers and toilets are common. One accomodation place is the deer hunters cottage (own sleeping bags) Nearest (and only) hotel is Hotel Huvikumpu. Or then you can rent a cottage. Cottages prices varies a lot depenging which luxury level you want. Basic (without electricity etc..) cost around 100e/weekend and five star (with satellite tv's) costs around 800e/weekend. Usually cottages are for 4 person then everyone has his own bed. All the cottages are lakeside and with Finnish Sauna. Some cottages are far a way from everywhere, so only noise source is you expect birds (mostly swans). Usually russian competitors will rent all the cottages quit early (the price not is important for them). And I have already got some inquiries from Moscow and St.Petersburg. For many russians it's also familyholiday trip. So when mens are driving, wifes and kids are shopping in Mikkeli or then just enjoying of the nature and silence...
  3. As a organiser, in Finland Trophy there is no limitations or rules what waypoints can be taken safely or not. So every point is up to you. There is no rules which waypoints you can take with rollcage or without... It just up to you if you rollover you rollover. **** happens. In Finnish National Trophy-Raid cup-series there is on going this typical Scandinavian "we want to take care of you" mentality...which causes a lot unnessary and stupid safety regulations ...which is sad. Finland Trophy has nothing to do with this.... It's totally unsafe, but those who want drive off road it's the best competition in Finland. But still it's like sunny holiday weekend if you compare it to the Ladoga..and Vepskiy Les is another story...
  4. I haven't ask it yet, but he has been every year. So why not....
  5. My recommendation is.. take short steps... I have driving in England and your races are very sunny, sunny and light comparing what you have in front of you when you go to Vepskiy Les. My advice is First step: Take a part of Finland Trophy, if you are able to finish it. Go forward.. Second step: Ladoga Trophy, if you are able to finish it. Go forward.. Third step: Vepskiy Les, and you are in the offroaders heaven...or it looks like a swap which just goes on on on on.......400 metres is enough rope in Vepskiy Les that distance you will find anyhow something where the winch....
  6. And if you want to be at centrepoint of nothing. Your are in Vepskiy Les...
  7. Yep, 2003 year video made by Sergei Belothskin is maybe the best video what has ever made in Vepskiy. I think that I have allso those older ones which are little bit better. I think. In the old times there wasn't sleeping times, so you drive as long as you could and sleep your car... what you sleep...nowdays they have those sleeping times for safety reasons, cause there was near to happen very bad accidents when people drive or run in a swap continously around 30 hours.. but it is still.... HARDCORE... By the way those two Italian cars on the video (MB and Suzuki) get forward about 300 metres from the start when they decided this is not for them. And put the cancel button...they really didn't understand where they are participating.....
  8. Vepskiy Les is "Vepsäläisten metsä" in finnish and in english it's "Veps forest". More information of this native group called "Veps" you can find eq. http://www.eki.ee/books/redbook/veps.shtml Area where the race is northern-veps natural area. Ladoga Trofi is like holiday and Finland Trophy is "sunny holiday" if you compare it Vepskiy Les. In Vepskiy Les there is four diffrent kind of swaps, I call them terms: S= Swap FS= ****ing Swap VFS = Very ****ing Swap VFSWS = Very ****ing Swap With Suprises It's hardcore off road event....the best in this planet...When you have finish it you think that you can kiss the world...
  9. Finland Trophy web-pages will be open in this month. I call to Mikkeli yesterday and they promise to do the web-pages in english. So all the necessary information will be there. Areas are the same as last year and route master is the same as last year "Tuomas Vitikainen" and his car "Anteater". He "Tuomas" will drive through all the routes so that they are driveable, somehow. Jez miss the last point last year because his car wasn't yellow submarine. It was only yellow. Competitors amount is limited for 80 cars. Accomodation and maps questions you can send pm to me. Br, myllis retained...
