  1. Hi all, I've recently bought a 5 door, 7 seater K reg Discovery 200tdi as the new familymobile. So no real offroading, but we will be using it for camping trips, a bit of greenlaning etc. The rear shocks look a bit tatty with the top part looking rusty and beginning to split. I've bounced on the rear bumper and to be fair it steadies pretty quickly but I'm thinking that they will need replacing soonish. Which led to me thinking about upgrading the ride in general, more for better onroad manners without detracting from it's basic offroading capabilities so I'm looking for advice on my options: 1. What brand of shocks would you recommend for my needs, both front and rear (front is currently fitted with britpart, they're black in colour but that's all I know) 2. I've seen some front and rear anti roll bars on ebay, with ball joints etc. would this be a simple matter of bolting on to existing holes in my chassis and would it make much of a difference to the ride? Does anyone have any pictures or examples of this being retrofitted? 3. Poly bushes; seen various sets available, do they really make a difference, is it worth doing for what I want? 4. And any other suggestions, simple to do and relatively cheap to improve the ride? Ta very much in advance for any responses.
  2. Hi all, New Land Rover owner with a K reg, 5 door, 7 seater 200TDI. Love the car but as always at this age there are a few problems to sort out. I've looked at central locking threads but couldn't find anything that quite fitted all my particular problems. In short: 1. Front passenger door; when central locking is operated no problems locking it but when opened through fob often it slips down a couple of mil and effectively locks itself independently from the rest of the doors so that you need the key to get in or have to lift it manually. I think this is a spring problem that is often raised, £4 on Ebay, does this sound right? 2. Rear tailgate; lock goes down to lock when you press key fob but springs straight back up and doesn't lock at all, tried pushing it down manually but that doesn't work either. I've tried the key but the lock is seized completely when you try and turn it from the outside. Is this another spring problem or is it something electric to do with the actuator? Also, with the seized key/lock, is it just a case of taking it off and cleaning/greasing everything? 3. Front drivers door: central locking from the fob is fine but turning the key doesn't activate the central locking for the whole car, is it suppposed to be like that? I thought, as is the case with other central locking cars that you could use the key. If it is a fault any suggestions for solutions? Ta very much in advance for your response.
  3. I've just bought my first land rover, discovery 200tdi K reg and I've felt around under the plastic sill covers and uncovered some rusty holes just with my fingers. I need to look properly and I don't know if the outer sill is as important as the inner (which feels ok) but assuming they need to be fixed how much do you think it would cost to get a garage to put in the box sections you've suggested? I don't weld or do bodywork so I have no idea how big a job it would be. Also I assume that you don't have to mess about with car filler and making it look lovely as it is covered by the plastic trim? Thanks.
