  1. Ahh the age old debate about lifting a series. I currently run lifted shackles, Bearmach Parabolics, ES3000 Shocks, extended front prop and castor corrector wedges on the front axle, done many 1000's of miles, on road, off road and towing. The only issue I had was the front prop eating a pair of UJ's - I suspect this was due to it not being balanced, the and the UJ's highly likely being the original. But with a pair of FWH's to disengage the front axle and prop wasn't too fussed. My reasons for having such a set up was to run a 33" tire, have good articulation and a smooth ride. I would say I got what I wanted too! I built this setup over a number of years, as I had a very tight budget. First I had good (Oiled) leaf springs with extended shackles. This allowed me to fit the larger tire comfortably and surprisingly good articulation. I then purchased the procomp shocks and beacmach springs at a later date (about 10 years ago now!). The Bearmach springs added very little to ride height but gave a much better ride. And it has been like that ever since. However there are a lot of ways of going about this, if I was to do it again (and had the money) I would just go straight to Rocky Mountain and get their complete SWB HD kit. As mentioned previously it is worth thinking about your reasons for lifting a series. With stock shafts and diffs I would argue a grippy tire size over 33" is going to cause trouble. If you are looking for more clearance one of the best mods I done was take an inch out of the bellhousing crossmember, good skid plates help too! Good luck with whatever you decide!
