  1. Yup, nice one, the link works fine!! Will see how I get on, cheers for bothering! Ta.
  2. Hi, thanks for the info and words of advice, any chance you've got a number for Motor & Diesel ..?? Cheers
  3. No offence intended chaps wouldn't presume to call anyone a moderator over anyone else...as anewbie etc.... Am fully appreciating the LR community feel. I've only been let down once when I stopped to help a RR when (I had my S11A) he was an arogant bar attendant so I drove off!! Since then everyone I've met has been very cheery and helpful as I try to be myself!! On the subject of LPG I have/had an 80l tank across the load area behind the seat giving 64l real fuel. I had looked into getting a 100l tank but for the other reasons never bothered, leaning towards diesel as I was and have. On a long run with a decent quality gas and all the other variables behaving themselves I got 160 miles before running out ....... CHeers, Phil.
  4. Niall I'like the arguments...........I had a shut off valve in my system as I kept on top of the regs as much as pos.................. Lpg being cheaper sounds good and quality definately an issue as the v8 would go from being as sweet as to a complete dog with a dodgy fuel supply, an indignity I have suffered on several occasions most often when trying to get somewhere usually for a holiday......once i had to abandon the beast and go camping in/with a fiat ....euch.....(very reliable mind, just not much grip or clearance on the lanes ..ahem...) I do have a 2006 copy of the lpg station map of GB but found it, sorry missus found it a pain in the arris as it opened to A1 size and you had to look at the back to find the address/tel no etc......since heard they made it a book hurrah...... I have resigned my self to a tdi for the RR but will be keeping the v8 for another LR project at a later date so may well go back to gas for that then.......??? Fridgefreezer Cheers I'll prob give him a shout when it's all in and running!
  5. ....."hope you don't regret this"..... Well it has taken a long time to get to this decision as i've been thinking of this conversion for some time now. While I do love the v8 and lpg has been a good way to run it I've just come to decide that i'd rather have the load space and more flexibilty with fuel supply. Many an hour spent on hols trying to find that elusive lpg supplier "somewhere" in the cuds. Also now driving to the EU is more of a proposition for the above reasons and the fact that as far as i know you can't get through the Chunnel with lpg.....!? Also my mate drives a 110 200tdi so it's not completely a leap of faith ..... The Lpg conversion was done by me with a kit and has served me well it and some other stuff will be up for grabs once the job gets underway and after i've posted 20 times..?... I hope 'They' can see i'm genuine so won't mind me selling stuff in a bit....? Next 'modification' to investigate will be Bio-diesel........... Thanks Dan/Phil ................. you choose i'll answer either.............long old story........... PS I'm in Berks.............anyone else?
  6. Righto, I think I'll be keeping the LT95 as I like the ratio set up, with 235/85/16s and an overdrive, top gear is reasonably tall (which the V8 didn't like uphill) so I'm thinking this will be more suited to the Tdi ! Will of course overhaul all components at the time of doing the swap so hope to eliminate some of the backlash that is currently in the system. Have already started by replacing the propshaft UJ's will carryon with diffs, gearbox. RR had done 79,000 miles when I got her and didn't appear to have ever had a tow hitch fitted so I reckon everything should be in good nick just need tolerances adjusting........well I can hope!!
  7. Point taken....it's always a decision between keeping a unit beit gearbox, engine, complete vehicle or what ever that you mostly know and find reliable against an upgrade which is invariably 2nd hand and with what history?? Also raises a few more questions.............. Could I keep the same transferbox? Would I need to change the gearbox mounts? would the ratios change? Anyone got one going......how much....? I'm sure there are more but they escape me right now........still appreciate the input! Ta.
  8. Sorted it out, can be done with adapter plate, see Int Forum for details, Ta. P.
  9. Right then Rat Fans......... Thanks for all the input! After several phone calls here are the results; Zeus have the tooling to make the bellhousing but no units left and unless there was going to be a club order or at least say 5 people it wouldn't be worth doing a production run...or else a prohibitively high retail cost!! A very nice bloke and helpful too...leading me to speak to...... Precision Engineering (apologies if the name isn't spot on - previously Milner Conversions) another top bloke who can make an adapter plate in about a week or so to do the very job!! Reasonable price too. and regarding "....best of both worlds..." 200 tdi with Lt95, i'm happy to go with this and yes it sounds ideal, so why aren't more people needing bellhousings or adapter plates or are they keeping it a secret...??
  10. Top one!! Thanks i'll give'em a shout for price etc. Would make life easier in the long run i reckon plus i know where i stand with this 'box + OD ....shame they're not up now too, .......must sleep sometime....nah bugger it .........more time to play..! ZZZZZZZzzzzzz z z
  11. Sounds sound.. will have a look around for prices etc...Ta.
  12. As long as it fits, with a 200tdi and will be reliable (it is a LR after all....he he...) and I can find one within a reasonable time scale,............getting withdrawal symptoms...................etc etc then i'll be happy!! All advice gratefully received.... anyone involved in Offroading in Berks..? I've moved there recently.....
  13. Yup, fair one, money will play a part in all of this tho so would need to find a home for all the other stuff...... all options open I guess...
  14. Hello all. Has anyone tried to mate an ex-disco 200tdi to the 4spd Range Rover box? I've thrown the towel in on my RR 3.5 v8 with Lpg, I want some space back and easier fuelling.....plus she coughed last week and leaked abit more than usual....!!? No seriously she leaks... Thanks in advance, Phil.
  15. Righto, cheers, have probably sourced the tdi (keeps it all LR easier parts etc) , I reckon someone must have thought of this or be able to produce an adapter.........as we're all innovative folk us LR nuts........ Ta for the reply!
