send a e.mail all the contact info http://www.qtservices.co.uk/contact/
no point in having a phone number if it doesn't take incoming calls,
you didn't ring the FAX number in error did you ?
I've sent and email, but no reply, Its not the fax line, i've ringed that too, hoping they had the numbers mixed up on the website! Its a pretty ridiculous situation.

The Disco box has a different selector housing, with the gear stick coming out in the wrong place, so you really want a defender box.
You'll need a bellhousing from a 300 Series (1994-1998) Disco V8.
You can get away with using a standard Defender 300 TDi gearbox, by modifying the spigot bearing in the end of the crank, and thats probably the simplest option, although the spigot bearing ends up a bit thin.
Or as above, have the defender box rebuilt with the appropriate input shaft and bellhousing.
So the input shaft length is the same in defender and disco r380 boxes?
-
Thanks for the replys everyone!
So I'm looking for a r380, which I belive is the same in the disco as the defender? With a v8 belhousing and input shaft? Is this correct?
Or failing that, a lt85?
Thanks

Hi folks,
I'm building a V8 90 over the winter, using a serp 3.9 or larger rover unit. I want to have a manual box behind the V8, not auto.
What options do I have regarding gearboxes? Can the Lt77 90 box be converted to mate to the v8? Or is there other boxes I can use?
Thanks

Nice sharp hack saw in one of the guides, best way of getting a straight edge.
Dave.
I sharp stanley gives a neater cut, and as long as you can follow the line you've drwan, it will be pretty straight.
-
As above, what's the best method to nearly cut / trim silicone turbo hoses?
Stanley knife I was thinking.....
Appreciate some tips from anybody who's done it before....
Thanks
Rob
PS
Typical Paddocks! 200Tdi kit is not an exact copy of the OEM hoses and need trimming.
Kit PM991 by the way.
Draw the line you want to cut, around the pipe, then use a sharp stanley knike and trim away.

hi all, i have a lift kit which came off a disco, how do i check the rating so i can put them on my defender 90, the springs are orange & shocks are yellow does this tell me anything defender dinky
Chances are, if the springs are orange, they are made from recycled deck chairs......

I've got 37-12.50-15 maxxis creepy crawlers on my 90, with a 2" lift, just needed some trimming

I need a couple of 6-8" lengths of tube suitable for making a socket on a chassis outrigger where the windscreen hoop comes down the bulkhead and sits on top of it, something along the lines of what you can see on the front outrigger in this pic (credit to Dirty Diesel for the pic):
It's pretty common, from what I can see.... Thing is though, I have been to just about every engineering shop in the east Somerset area, and no-one seems to have any offcuts, some even suggest "you won't anything to fit on the outside of that, it's just the way with tube". It's been done, a huge number of times, so must be possible to get hold of, anyone any idea where, and what the dimensions are? I assumed thin wall stufff (2mm or so) wouldn't be up to the job, but may be wrong.
Nearly forgot, the tube is 45mm OD CDS.
Failing the above, my other option is to get a piece of round bar turned down by a mate of mine
Thanks in advance
Bowie.
I went to a tube bending place behind where I work, and took a off cut of the roll cage, and they cut me abit off the right size for a fiver.

They are different, but a series bulkhead will fit, but I'd persnally get a propper 90 one, normally, if you can find a series bulkhead in good nick, it cost's more than a 90 bulkhead.

Looking good. What axle is that front one?

How much should I be looking at spending on a used, reasonable condition second hand warn 8274?
Thanks,
Chris:)

Thanks for the replies
Its worth holding out for a Hp24 then.
Are the dimensions the same as the Hp22?
Thanks

The range rover LSE's where fitted with a stronger auto box than the standard 3.9 as I understand. How much stronger is the LSE auto box over the standard range rover/discovery 3.9 auto box?
Would the 3.9 auto box be stronger or weaker than a defender LT77?
Cheers

I run them at 17psi all the time and it comes in at about 3.5t They do not get an easy life. I know someone else with a Landcruiser and he did a set of Simex in 6000 miles!!
Yes Bias ply, but that is not the same as cross ply.

They are not Cross-plys and they are are good for 95 on mine I have 35/12.5/16s, but not fitted to a LR
Paul
I'm pretty sure thay are cross ply, It says 'Bias ply' in the Maxxis catalouge IIRC

God was a boy the last time I had more than one wheel off the ground Bish

I'm running 37" creepy crawlers on my 90 atm, got a 2" lift and lots of trimming on the rear of the rear tub. I've also fitted QT super wide arches to cover the tyres.
They are very good off road, but utter rubbish on the road, as they are cross-plys

No need to panic about being car jacked,i know the guy with the sprinter(he is a good friend of mine).
I asked this morning if it was him who tried to stop an orange bobtail yesterday,he said he only wanted to have a chat about some the mods you had done to it(i am helping him modify a range rover at the moment),also when you turned on to packet boat lane he thought you were going to stop, thats why he followed.
One other thing is the other two people in the van were his 5 year old daughter and his wife.
Hope this puts your mind at rest as i have been on the recieving end of some nasty road rage and it does shake you up a bit.
cheers
Ian
Is this a joke?

Just a quicky, are there any websites or threads detailing a P38 v8 and auto conversion to a 200tdi defender?
Thanks

I'm running 37" creepy crawlers with a 2" lift on my 90
Had to do a fair bit of triming, and now have fitted QT's super wide wheel arches.

1984/5 brake problem
in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)

Hi all,
With the MOT looming(10:30 tomorrow!) I'm coming to the end of my 90 re-build! But I can't get a good pedal on the brakes. I've fitted all new lines, braided hoses, new pads and discs and a new master cylinder. I can get an average pedal when pumped repeatedly, but no where near the rock solid it should get. I've got no leaks in the system either. I keep getting air out of the bleed nipples, but the pedal never gets better, straight to the floor!
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions please?!?!?!
Thanks
Chris
