Well after Bures the disco looked like this:

So got steve round to jet wash it and underneath (hence ramps):

  2. And also all sharp edges have rubber caps, and with the height of it, the person i runover would have to be a giant to hit them. Itll be the bumper, spots, steering guard, Big tyres that would get them long before that! Thats why i put them as near to the windscreen as possible...

  3. make sure you take those off before encountering trees, all 3 of mine died this way :P .

they were useful though, i could carry haybales on the roof and use the racks to stop them moving lol.

    mikey

Yeah they wont stay on there, just had to collect a ladder...

  4. Tried out the Discos roof rack, handy to have:

My mate gave me a set of ladder brackets, so a plan was hatched:

Welded a nut and washer on the end:

    300420091347.jpg

Cut the hook parts off and drilled some holes:

    300420091348.jpg

Marked and cut my waffle boards:

    300420091349.jpg

    300420091350.jpg

    Tried them for size:

    300420091351.jpg

Welded some plate on to stop them dropping:

    300420091352.jpg

Drilled a hole and rivetted them in place to stop them spinning:

    300420091353.jpg

Cut down the bar and job done:

And as theyre ladder clamps theyre lockable too :)

  5. Mainly the exhuast as the Y section needs extending to past the x-member before it bends down to the centre section, make new exhaust brackets as its all sitting too low and will be the first thing to get caught and rip off if i take it off road at the moment. On the good side i fitted my home made snorkel today so im hopefully one steep closer to 'being able to drive thro' water without misfires'.

Still got atank guard to fix, adjust me toe bar to allow for steeper decent angle and sort out an annoying knock on the front driverside!

Drizz Im hoping to convert to megasquirt soon so i should be able to join you in the deep stuff :) but i wont be polluting the water with nasty chip fat lol

    Whos the daddy ;) LOL

  6. I have fitted the headers, y section and center box, but not yet happy with it as i need to modify/fabricate the transmission cross member. My plan is to remove the centre box and just run the rear silencer which should give a nice rumble (John & Drizz should hear it the most as we cruize past them!!)

Sounds better than before so im happy. Hopefully will make bures on the 3rd but not sure as time is short at the moment to work on the truck.

Thats ok you speed on past. Then when youre stuck in a puddle we can trundle on past with a ;)

  7. When are you fitting the headers? It would be good to hear yours then I can convince myself I need a set. :)

As for the roar, I'd just rather leave them in our dust.... :D

Bures is open on May 3rd, Whos coming?

As per my text Brian. Bures on 3rd of may then skating with everyone in the evening for my birthday....

  8. Got the Snorkel off:

    26022009972.jpg

And chopped it down an bit (reason will become clear later):

    26022009971.jpg

Drilled 3 holes in the underside of the inlet for my breathers to sit in:

    26022009973.jpg

Got my bar on and lights on hence shortening the snorkel a touch:

    26022009974.jpg

Whilst John got on with the rear arches:

    26022009976.jpg

And outside to turn it round:

    26022009977.jpg

    Cut the other arch down:

    26022009978.jpg

    And on:

    26022009979.jpg

    and the other side:

    26022009981.jpg

    And a blurry complete pic:

    26022009982.jpg

Still more to do yet, but thats enough for today. Big thanks to John for his help on the arches. he deserves the credit!

  9. If you are upgrading to extra strength after market internals then fine, if you keep stock the you are better off buying a complete axle.

Have you considered the differences between axle cases?

If you upgrade a 10 spline axle to 24 spline you will still be stuck with the older style case.

I am not sure what this will affect but certainly LR decided to move from 6 bolt ends to 7 bolt on the later front axle. This was presumably to increase the strength?

    Marc.

I see, Well we will be upgrading the half shafts and diff in the rear axle but keeping front STD
