The seal collar between the gearbox and transfer box; part 6 in the image.

Hi, just about to start changing some seals on a replacement R380 gearbox before fitting and have a question about the collar. When pressing it back on to the shaft how for down should it go? I’ve read that it should be pressed far enough so that the groove is level with the gearbox casting but looking at the box it’s no where near that far down currently. Any advice?
