Whilst being over enthusiastic in clearing show from my defender using a brush, I snapped my washer jet assembly off.
MOT time is here, and I know I need it if I'm going to pass. It looks like I'll have to get the dashtop off in order to get at it all. I've got the screws out of the top of the dashtop, the vent covers are off and it's free at each end, but it won't come off / out.
Am I missing something obvious?

Is there a special one, or will a universal one fit?
If it's special one, is there a part no?

What you need is a valve in the exhaust.
Valve open = drives very nicely indeed
Valve closed - drives very nicely indeed but the cab does tend to get a bit full of fumes.

Excellent.
Let me know how you go with it.

Yes, disco 200tdi and 2.5 petrol engine mounts are the same.
Excellent news.
Now to add something I forgot.
It's non PAS at the mo, will I be able to fit the disco PAS box, or should I be on the look out for a defender one? I take it that the plumbing frmo pump to box is relatively straightforward.

There do seem to be a few solihull built 'forth bridges' out there don't there.

My 1991 defender has a petrol engine, it having been nailed in to replace the TDi that lived there previously (No Idea why, It was a Liveridge special for a bloke I work with, don't think he could stretch to a diesel)
What I'm wondering is, will the 200TDi from a disco go onto the 2.5 petrol mounts? That is all I'm wondering, as I'm pretty happy that the rest of the thing is do - able.
And as the petrol is running about as well as Paula Radcliffe on the way to the toilet, I'm thinking sooner rather than later.
200TDi disco engine into defender

I did this about 12 months ago, but have had 3 completely dead batteries in this time (one was brand new, the others were s/h and of a more unknown quantity)
As it used to have a 2.5 petrol engine in it, with a piddly little alternator, and the new engine has the standard disco alternator on it, is it possible that I'm giving the battery 'too much' charge, thereby killing it?
Cheers
