  1. Not to pick at your fine job but, shouldn't the brake pipe be steel instead of copper? If copper, you might keep an eye on it if not replacing it.
  2. When I first bought my 67 SII 109 2.25 diesel it had a flex pipe ran out back with no muffler. After driving it for a few days I couldn't stand the loud drone and took off the flex pipe and installed a new muffler I happened to have onto the exhaust pipe. The exhaust exit's just ahead of the rear wheelwell opposite the drivers side. Not only did it not silence the truck very well but, it seems to have reduced my power by quite a bit. My question is, should I run a pipe all the way out back with the muffler near the back to help with the drone and noise? And, do I need to use a diesel specific muffler to get more flow? Thanks in advance for your help. This great forum has helped with several questions. Mark.
  3. Did you fill it up before you started having trouble? Could it be contaminated fuel such as diesel or water?
  4. Please help me understand what I have here.My new L.R. seems to have two different grills on it.And, I think it may have been an ex military machine because of the pintle hook and ball on the front bumper. It's a 1967 SIIa 110 diesel.S# 345-00287-D.I thought I had a site to track the serial # but, I can't find it.I have a few M.O.T. certificates from 1999,2000 and 2001.It seems it was shipped over here about 2002.I'm very curious about it's history and,I would like to know which grill is accurate. Thank you for your help, Mark
  5. I recieved great help on my last post ,thank you. Here's another. On my 67 Series IIa diesel, are the fasteners metric or that British standard I've only heard about? If BS, can I use Metric or fractional wrenches anyway? Is a conversion chart available or, is there so little difference I don't need one. And, is my diesel engine a Land Rover brand or built by another? Thanks for your help, Mark
  6. To all of you who replied to my questions, Thank you! Now I'm not so fearful of damaging something . It truly is showing me to be a great vehicle. It's like a street legal tractor. Now, if my new president won't take so much from me that I have to sell it to pay my taxes ,I can see myself owning this or one like it for a long time. Thanks again. Mark
  7. I'm a first time Land rover owner. It's a Series IIa 1967 2 door 109'' diesel.First, I found the glow plug button but, how long do I hold it in? It's on the rt bottom of the instrument panel with another button on the lower left side, what's that one for? And , is it positive ground?I think it originally had two 6v batteries and has one 12v now is that ok ? Will someone explain the shift pattern please? And the lights inside the gauges and anything else I've left out. It seems like a great vehicle ,is it? Thank you for your help, Mark
