  1. That might be a possibility Discovery td5 heated front seat elements arnt alot of money atall.
  2. Just Put a Heated front screen in my 87' 110 Defender ... Insurance job All i had to pay was my £100 excess. Even how cold it is at the minute i managed to get away with using one 70amp rear heated relay from vehicle wiring products, using 50amp cabling, Wired into a carling push mon switch, and as i havnt got a heated rear window, ive attached a tell-tale to the rear window illumination in dash . What an excellent £100 well spent. Next on the cards. Heated Mirrors, Heated rear window, Insulate inside the commercial Body.(had ice forming inside on roof) Then possibly aux heater if i feel that its still to cold. And more importantly electric cooling fan so the damn thing heats up alittle better.
  3. Right iv found a firm who will check my work fitting a tacho to my 110. and check and sign it of as being Ok. Next question How do i go about picking up vehicle speed for the tacho to work, fitting to a 110 200 tdi. defender. Im looking into the din sized type analogue tachograph
  4. lucky none of my customers live that far from where im based, Im guessing thats how i will get around it. Id better re-register my truck to me , instead of company name. its put down on my traders policy as my own private vehicle. i also think id better speak to vosa. to clarify weather or not all the info is correct as such that way i can get a copy of all the legalities and stay in the guided lines i think a tacho being fitted in my 110 d -reg wont be cost effective.
  5. So in affect it could be classed as a mobile work shop, as i have workshop racking and tools in the back. I probaly tow for work about 8 times a year if that the rest is for personal usage. might look into re classifying it with tax office as mobile workshop
  6. I shall be picking up vehicles for servicing etc for my business. question is. Do i need a Tacho fitting ? Doesn't seem worthwhile putting it in a D-reg 110 Defender. not to mention definitely not cost effective. If i don't charge the customer for collection Will i be exempt ? The majority of my Towing will be for my personal use. ie taking the 90 to challenge events and play days.
  7. My 110 salisbury has rear discs. i wont be using disco alloys i will have a look and decide from there onwards .
  8. my lever for the fan is broken was like this when bought. theres just a switch wired up for the control of the blower motor its self. oh right. i guess i wont bother with the alloy wheels as im not going to be putting much weight in the back i didn't no weather or not id need such a heavy duty axle, but i guess while its not broken theres no point in messing with it. hopefully i cam get away with just changing the transfer box although once i get the transfer box of i dare say il be able to inspect the condition of the shaft then replace as required.
  9. i will have a look at the lever inside then. I will wait until i have to change my axles as i have a spare set of disco axles. Basically my fault occurs when driving along above 60. when i go to let of the power i get a grinding noise from what sounds like the transfer box area, i can get play from the flange on the front flange. also if the vehicle is on the ground . i can get quiet a bit of rotational movement from the front shaft area. where as the rear i can get no retainable movement at all. i have a spare transfer box for the defender. hopefully its just going to be this.
  10. fault with my D-reg 110 defender First issue. Heater, What does the lever on the left handside of the airbox operate, My cable is Broken on this lever. If i Flip it all the way up No Air Blows through any of the vents , if i pull it all the way down it seems to blow put of both the vent on windscreen and under dash. Is this how it should be operating.? went to fit 300 discovery alloys on my land rover 110 . and the rims don't seem to fit on the hubs correctly. is it the case they only fit over 200/300tdi axles ? Next Question Transfer Box the shaft that goes into it from gearbox is this replaceable with the gearbox in place ? or is it a gearbox out job ? any answers would be greatly received
  11. Iv Decided going to pull head of . spoke to land rover specialist and they think the head gasket might be blowing acrossed the bores . at least with the head i should be able to see some sort of damage if there is some.
  12. Put the oil in spin it over by hand once , then attempt to do a wet test.
  13. just done a normal dry . as read that doing a wet one isn't advisable on the tdi. i could do a wet one 2morow, if thats the way forward ? so if i just loosen the tappet on number 3 il be able to see if its made a difference.
  14. Push rods are straight, rockers were in take but i will check gain 2morow/ Havnt checked tappet yet, will check adjustments tomorrow.
  15. Compression Test Carried out on my 200 Tdi. Results are as follows. cyl1 400psi cyl2 380psi cyl3 290psi cyl4 390psi What sort of results should i have expected ?
  16. Can Propshafts be fitted around the wrong way ?
  17. YES fuel was coming out of number 3 but. it seemed not as high pressure as all the others although il double check this 2morow. i don't think its base engine related. more fuel related.
  18. Just checked it out , swapped number 3 inj with number 2 inj. Fault still lies with Number 3 cylinder. area
  19. Everything points to the injector gonna go to workshop now. bored so got nothing to loose. will post back later.
  20. But it doesn't improve when warm , glow plugs are only operating for a time amount anyway , are they not ?
  21. Symtoms - Hard Start from Cold, Excessive smoke diesel smelling, and sounding like its misfiring rough. fuel supply is fresh, cracked of the injectors. all make a noticeable difference in engine sounding, apart from one that makes no difference in the sounding at all. Next step is to change the injector to a different cylinder to see if the results are the same as above. What are peoples thoughts.? Injector Fault? or worse..
