Well ive managed to trial bolt up the engine to the front mounts. drilled the gear box mounts, and all is in place.. Had to remove pannels from centre seat area, this flex plate ? what does it look like? make sure im doing everything correctly ?

300 tdi. Will the engines swap straight over from. a 200tdi to 300 tdi?

Moving Radiator to the rear Tube. Is the coolant system on a 90 capable of running the coolant to the rear without the need of some sort of aux pump.

Less than on there website. although i did get mine last year, I got a rollcage already welded up . and that was distributed to one of the agents in essex, All i did was pick it up bring it home and weld it on the truck. easy with the front mounting kit

yes that price includes boxes.. it will include everything i require to do the conversion. I'd love to put 300 tdi auto into it but discos (scrap) are making stupid money at present AND this offer is very local to me. Can anyone tell me if i need to move the engine. in which to fit this conversion.?

Right from a local 4x4 breakers iv managed to locate and buy for £420 all the 200tdi parts i will need for the auto conversion. next question. will i have to modify the mountings/ crossmember? Propshafts, had anyone got any pics of the flex plates /crankboss and all the other little pieces, iam very capable of doing such conversion. just need to see what im letting myself in for. please any comments will be good.

Been offered a 200 tdi autobox/ transfer box. Cheap. the rest if vehicle is still in scrap yard. If i was to buy this to put in my 200 tdi'd defender. what else would i need to buy.? Do they run some sort of controling ecu, Discuss ,, Negative and positive comments welcome chris.

Based in norfolk. the mission 4x4 winch challenge ? I would go along but i have got to pick a gearbox up from birmingham on sunday .. unless i finish work earlier than expected saturday day. west harptree is a fair trek. but worth it if i get to see what its all about and so my co.driver can see what hes let himself in for.

Well iv Made my desicion i think. seings ive never actually been to one of these challenges i will come along and watch the first round of challenger,(If aloud) Then look in to prehaps competing in round 2 Sound like a good idea ?

So Basically getting a defender box is the way forward.

Right. hes the problem the box in my defender 200 tdi has packed in. whats involved in using the LT77 disco box aspose to getting a direct fit defender unit. Any guides would be even beter on how to change any parts over Discuss...

SEEMS like different people have different views...which ae to expected i suppose. im currently cleaning up my motor in the ep9. changinging the main battery leads to higher spec. and changing my isolator as its rather sh** and has caused me more problems. Once iv done this il take the truck out again see how the winch performs... If not il start saving for a twin motor gigglepin 8274, If the ep9 is ok.....Tray back from north will be on the cards

After speaking to a guy well known in the winching field. iv been told the ep9 will out pull a stock 8274. the gearboxes are stronger, and with the right cables. are infact makes them a good winch to have on the front . and that will pull you out of most places. only downside is speed.

And is the ep9 up to the job ?

Well this will be my first season in challenge events. and first ever time competing Is my truck a well even spec to compete. 200 tdi 90 disco axles ashcroft rear half shafts north challenge wings standard tub ep9 super winch on front with steel cable insa turbo special track . 285 75 16 twin battery.. twin alternator. Will the winch be up to the job ?

After a chat with a land rover guy... a leaky head gasket could be the cause. i have an oil leak from somewhere, not yet looked at. apparently the head gaskets are a weak spot aroud no. 4 cylinder, where the head bolt goes through an ali part or sumfin. what happends is when its cold. looses compression on number 4 then when the metal warms up. its ment to seal it..all down to head bolt torque or sumfin, Anybody else heard anything like this.?

I will pull them out , on sunday and have a look.

Not a glow plug. vehicles fires up instantly asoon as you turn the key. i wonder weather its a injector leaking out over night...

I have changed all filters with no joy. fuelling is turned back to standard.

200 tdi Defender, When cold it smokes and almost sounds like its miss fireing. when warm engine runs sweet. and doesnt smoke any idea's?

Another quick question... How is the handicap set ? I have No Challenge event experience, and only have attended playdays, My truck has front winch is there different classes in this event ?
