  1. The 300tdi tensioner on the serpentine belt are renowned for being noisy, but also the belts. to check if it,s belt get a wax crayon and with the engine idling CAREFULLY touch the crayon onto an accessible part of the belts ribbing, make sure it goes across the width of belt and listen to see if noise goes, (we use yellow MoT crayon) if not then spray lubricating oil into tensioner pulley and see if that stops it easy way to eliminate each item (don't catch fingers when doing above) Billy
  2. Inlet manifold gasket, usually forgotten to be tightened/torque checked during servicing, this causes lack of power, coolant loss etc, or head gasket,
  3. I used to do part worn tyres and used to vulcanise side walls 10 years sago. We were told by trading standards that it was no longer acceptable so stopped them, I would not have it done on my road car!!!!!1 but on off road tyres you can get Radial patches applied and then tube them and it saves the tyre and you can still use them Billy
  4. All MoT repairs have to be seam welded all way round if it is a patch, if it is a replacement panel, IE; cut out the whole of a wing, sill etc, and are replacing complete part then can be welded as original, ie sills spot welded, wheel arches spot welded, etc (but only if full part replaced not repaired) The MoT for structure states no corrosion causing perforation within 30cm of a seatbelt, braking, suspension, steering or suspension mounting point Billy(MOT tester till last year)
