just int he middle of building my new landy as my 93 disco is very rotten, what i need to know is that the defender is an early one with drum brakes on the rear, id like to fit the axles front and rear of my disco but am going to be doing it over a couple of weekends, are the disco and defender the same ratio diffs???? just if there not il change them both at the same time and try and borrow a vehicle in between, thanks

why dont you just tap into the stop solenoid live an fit a hidden switch inside somewhere?? nthis is what weve done with our works hilux an it works a treat, that way it just wont start whatever they do...unless they find your switch of course

im rebuilding my latest purchase, a 92 200 defender hard top an have come across an anoying problem, when aproachin stagered junctions the visibility over your left shoulder is carp, compared 2 say a truck cab where you cn see out the quarterlights. what im wondering is that there used 2 be a td5 down our way which had a triangular shaped glass put in the sides of the hard top just behind the doors, looked really practical an also quite posh, does anyone know where i can get these from??

oh my we do have some sarcastic members here, exactly how many shades of blue are there on a 92 defender??? not that many me thinks. no metallics, no metal flakes, no pearlescents, just blue, maybe light blue and even lighter blue, but thats it. il look elsewhere thanks anyway

Just bought myself a 92 def 90 to replace my rotten disco, I'm going 2 spray it as its had a hard life, what I need to know is what is the name and the colour code for it, its the usual light blue colour, thanks.

ive got 2 series 3s that i bought for spares, ive no longer got a use for them so was wandering how much interest there is in spares for them rather than just scrapping them the first is a series 3 that holds a tax exempt series 2 reg-no logbook, did have a v8 init but no engine and box, truck cab been removed but does have alloy back, series 2 type bonnet with wings and good axles springs etc, fitted loosely with mg maestro seats few spares in the rear the next is a r reg series 3 diesel, does have engine and box but starter alt and fuel pump bin removed, hard top, wings removed but in back along with few spares, good springs axles etc, both chassis wold need welding but dont look past it. what would you guys say these would be worth? or am i just better of weighing um in? cheers

when you say 3oo inlet an exhusts, are they the disco or defender items? or are they the same?

ive got a disco which has reached the end of its life, i cant afford 2 buy a tidy defender as id like so im looking at buying a older 90 and then putting the engine, suspension axles etc on 2 it. what i nned 2 know is that i hate disco engine conversions as they look so untidy, is there any way around the turbo arrangement?? i have a 2.5 td engine 2 hand, would the inlet/ exhaust manifolds fit onto the 200 with the disco turbo 2 make it more like a defender? if not which is the best way around 2 make it look as authentic as possible? cheers

just fitted a disco 300 tdi transfer to my mates 200 90 and weve got some issues. its fitted with arb lockers on 10 spline series 3 diffs so was really low geared, now cruises nicer but there is some hurrendous backlash in the new box to a point theres a split second delay in take up when you change gear and if you take off a bit sharp theres some loud clunking, is there any where i can adjust the backlash without removing and stripping down?

its the front thats the trouble, all brakes seized, swivel bearings colapsed and chrome gone of the swivels, just deemed it easier to use the s3 axle ive sgot thats in good nick, jst wanted 2 know if it woz a straight swap

will have to check, diffs should be the same ratio though should they aslong as there both dervs?

hi i have a 1966 series 2 diesel and the axles are in a bad way, i also have an r reg series 3 diesel for spares, what id like 2 know is are these axles the same or have they many differences?

thats interesting, ive just been on marslands websites and they quote £700 for a series 3 and £800 for a 11/11a chassis. does this mean il be getting the same chassis for £100 more or have they started making a specific series chassis? also, on paddocks website they supply marslands chassis but quote £680 for the 11a chassis! when you say mods are needed what exactly is different? im not after concours and dont mind making small adjustments but nothing to major

i had 265 75 16s on mine and they were too big for the arches, they were insa turbo spaecial tracks, hummed like hell on the road but were awesome were it counted, defo recomend them

just been tuning my disco using info found on this site and i must say.. what a difference!! ive been inside the pump and done the necessary adjustments. ive also fitted a boost gauge, upped the boost slightly, fitted a set of high clones, and fitted a front silencer replacement pipe, my question is im toying with the idea of putting a performance air filter in but am not sure whether this will make any difference, any body had any experiences with this?

hi thanks, just checking as ive just bought today 2 series 3s for spares and one has a diesel, seems to have slightly different injectors, my 2a is no 271 05737 c, ive been looking through records in a site i found a link to on here but see no record of the c, i can see a,b and d is this a slightly rarer model?

hi im new here so after a bit of info, im 23 and been into landys for a while, rebuilt a 90 and currently drive an off road disco ut have just bought a resto project, a 1966 2a diesel. my question is what cc is this engine? not sure if its supposed to be a 2 ltr or 2 1/4, also its grey in colour but what is the actual colour called?
