  1. freelanders can tow 2.7 tons if im right,

a 'norse is about 750kg-1 ton on there own,

so unless your trailer is less than 700kg, you may have a problem there,

a td5 disco would be lovely for towing it with. :)

if youre under the limit yes a chip is definately worth it, i would be tempted to chip the disco if you had to get one aswell.

Im pretty sure its 2 ton limit. A disco would be perfect for the job as you stated ;)

  2. Hi

Been in the garage this morning and found my wheel cover which I removed from my disco once winter had gone! Im not a big fan of these but they are handy to keep the road salt of the wheel in winter (One less wheel to clean) :hysterical:

Something Ive been meaning to do is to remove the dealer names on the wheel cover. It is a semi rigid wheel cover. I have seen a few without the lettering and it looks better plus it stops free advertising :excl: .

Ive also seen a few with the lettering removed but you can still see the dealers details, as it seems to still leave a black imprint on the cover which looks bad I think.

Any Ideas? Dont fancy sparying the cover a matt black either

    cheers

  3. 18 inch freelander sport wheels from the late freelander 4A chassis (06/56 plate) will fit without any problem. However Freelander 2 has a different off set / pcd so they wont bolt on. Im not sure what the largest size of wheels that will fit onto a freelander without any suspension mods etc. If anyone has some pictures it would be great to see. :D

  4. I have a 2004 land rover freelander and i only have two seats in the back?? and i want to replace the seats with a full leather set and with three seats in the back but was wondering how to change them is it really complicated?

I have seen a few of these....Why do you have only 2 seats in the back?

  5. I remember signing for my new Freelander 2 GS TD4 just under 2 years ago and thinking " i hope im doing the right thing " Having read articles on various forums the comments on the whole were not good, but there were one or two positive ones for the latest model and it did look so good and on paper it compared well against its rivals.

We covered 17000 miles in the time we had it, a lot of motorway miles and a lot towing our caravan up hill and down dale and i have to say its been BLOODY FANTASTIC !!!! never missed a beat, never broke down, nothing fallen off and it still looks like new, it drives like a premium salloon car on the road and is brilliant off road, only its limited ground clearence holding it back on the extreme stuff.

So, this morning we have been to sign for our second new Freelander the only difference this time is we have gone for the auto with 190bhp to make towing the caravan a little easier on my left knee (using the clutch in traffic was hard on my arthritic knee ).

Thinking about buying a new Freelander? go test drive one, see how good it is.

P,S I have no, or never had any connection with Landrover, the company or its dealers.

Are you staying clear from from the eD4 range? I would :hysterical:

  6. It's recently been on eBay for around £14,000 !!! with the reg D4NCA .......

:hysterical: Thats well overpriced for any freelander 1 let alone a 2002 S model people must on drugs nowadays! So its only depreciated around £6,000 in 9 years so thats £666.67 its lost per year! Must be due to paint finsh and minus the Land Rover badges on the bonnet

  7. Hi, sounds to me you have bought the pre facelift A Bar.As you own a 04 model that must be the facelift model,in which case you dont remove front bumper as a template is supplied with A Bar to place captive nuts etc in bumper face to bolt A Bar directly to bumper. ;)

Is it a metal A bar? If so then the bumper has to be removed in order for it to be fitted. As disydave said the plastic A bar for the Freelander 4A just bolts directly onto the bumper.

    hope that helps

  8. Purchased a new set of driving lamps but some how Ive lost the templates :( !!! Does anyone know where I can get a set of templates or does anyone have a set that they could send out?

  10. Reverse round a corner, dip the clutch half way - if it grinds to a stop instantly, it's seized. You should feel a little resistance but not like someone's put the brakes on.

Is there any maintenance required for the VCU such as greece to preserve the unit?

    many thanks

  11. "Im sorry to say but the hippies that buy the 2WD one will look like idots come winter time! No offense to anyone who has bought one! "

Sorry, but I don't necessariliy agree with that rather sweeping statement !! I bought a 2001 TD4 FL1 in July last year, and because of doubts about the condition of the VCU (later confirmed as on its last legs), the VCU and props were removed - I finally got round to re-fitting props and a re-con VCU on 14th. February this year - so that means that I ran the car through this last winter in 2-wheel drive. I live up in the Staffordshire Moorlands - we had a fair old amount of snow up here, but I never had any trouble at all getting out and about in the FL.

I realise that, a few years ago I had a drive in a 300tdi disco which was also FWD, the point I was making was that for the sake of £720.00 I would rather opt for the four wheel drive version even though it consumes a little more fuel.

  12. Glad you are happy with it, as i have just ordered a GS model. can't believe some of the spec, at least I do get a rear parcel shelf.

WHAT I STILL CANT BELIEVE IS LAND ROVER MAKING A 2WD VERSION AND ALL 2WD VERSIONS BEING ONLY A MERE £720.00 CHEAPER THAN THERE 4WD COUNTER PART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im sorry to say but the hippies that buy the 2WD one will look like idots come winter time! No offense to anyone who has bought one!

  13. on the 3 door link above note the reg plate letters, both end with TCC possible made by the same bodyshop/person.

Well spotted western something which I never noticed myself! A garage called Total Car Care has done the job hence TCC

  14. I should have looked before leaping into action with the above post !! - I have now found a source of a replacement exactly as above !!

On my TD4 Ive noticed that I have a very slight bit of play in my track rod end from the ball joint when I had the car jacked up. Im looking at tackling the job in summer. If replacing the nearside trackrod end is it advisable to also replace the front suspension bottom arm ...

    cheers
