  1. ahh , see i'm learnin already , i'v got me name on a spare r380 just in case i'm wrong cos i was wrong once , only once tho !!
  2. had a good look and i'm now sure its the clutch centre that's the problem , so now i have to find the time to sort it , and as it happens he's in no rush , thank god . once again thanks everybody for your help , i'd have struggled to diagnose the problem without you . the jobs always easier when you have the right info to start with . rick......
  3. well , i'v got a horrible feeling thats what this is , i dont mind doing the job but i could have done with it next week , i'm gonna have to start stacking vehicles i'v got no room at all
  4. ok , i'll have a proper check in the morning and i'll let you know what happens , at least now i have a start point , once again thanks for your help . rick.....
  5. thanks for the quick answer , its a bit dark to be rolling about on the floor but i'll have a look in the morning . the disco is a 95 m reg and yes i tried all gears , high and low , and thier was no drive . he said it just happened and thier was no dramas to report so i'm hoping its the transfer gear . would you have expected some kind of obvious noise or occurance if it was any of your suggestions .
  6. evening fellas , i could do with a bit of advise . a friend of mine has just dumped his problem on my door step and i could do with a couple of ideas before trying to sort it out . he has a discovery 300tdi with an r380 gearbox , on his way home from work he lost all drive , suddenly and without drama . i'v had a quick look see and cant decide what the problem is . the clutch feels normal and gears feel like they can be selected ok , i'v checked that the high low stick is in gear and it seams to be . their is a slight grinding noise when you lift off the clutch , but this is very quiet and i could only just hear it . any ideas will be welcome as i have'nt really any time to be messing with it . thanks in advance .
  7. thanks jerico , checked on ebay today and the only ones i can find are all frogsisland and they want 50 quid to post them i think thats a bit steep. paddocks posted my stick set for a fiver and i don't see that much difference .
  8. thanks jim , just checked that frog island link and looked at the postage cost's 50 quid ??? i don't need it sending by taxi overnight will do . i'll keep looking .
  9. cheers for that , water it is then . love the little bikini top , looks good . and black paddocks tryed to sell me a black one that they had in stock and i said no cos i want a khaki one kinda wish i'd got that now and i had'nt thought of the seat belt mount's !! i'll have to sort that out . are they standered military roll hoops and are they easy to get hold of .
  10. hello everyone . i've ordered a soft top and stick set from paddocks for me 90 , the stick set has arrived and the canvas should be with me next week . the question is , is there any preperation that needs to be done to the canvas before fitting . i've never had a soft top so i'm unsure what needs to be done , but i seem to remember that they need to be looked after . how do i keep it clean , should i pressure wash it or not ?? and is there anything i can do to it now that will prolong it's life ?? it will only be fitted during the warmer part of the year and will then be replaced with a truck cab when it's cold , so , should i clean it and prepare it for storage ? if so what do you recommend ? thanks in advance RICK....
  11. thanks for that , just a couple of things i'm doing wrong then !! and i like the sound of the jack between the chassis and the axle , although i will struggle with the 360 , and the stacker cheers !!!!
  12. i've tried that and they never seem to drop far enough , maybe i'm not trying hard enough . i hope i've not risked my health for nothing .
  13. good morning , and a happy new year to all . over the last few months i seam to be changing coil springs on my , and my mates land rovers quite a lot , and it's a job i don't like doing due to me having a dislike of coil spring compressors . i fitted heavy duty rear coils on to my 90 yesterday and i 've decided I'm not doing it again , it always seems like an accident is gonna happen , i can never get the clamps on in a way that I'm comfortable with . the clamps i have are Sykes pickavant but I'm sure their must be something better , so the question is , what do you use , how much are they , and where do i get them from . also any advise will be very welcome , rick .. oh , and just a quick point , the springs I'm having trouble with are not standard springs , it's the heavy duty +2 and +3 inch springs which are giving me trouble . thanks again ...
  14. i see your point , but in that case how should they " the strops "be attached to the vehicles , or is that unavoidable .
