  1. HELP! After clutch change my engine is LEAKING, i dont mean dripping, it poors out engine oil in that small hole in bellhousing! Amount oil has to do with revs...more RPM==>more oil poors out! Driping with idle! what have gone wrong? I bougt new rear oilseal but still! feels like major disater right now! What went wrong in assembly phase??? is there "known" problems with fitting rear oilseal? "300tdi overhaul manual" says that do not touch surface of oilseal etc! is it THAT sensitive??? cheers Jan
  2. hello! now when my defender is at garage and getting new clutch, i decided to change UJ too, cause of "clonk sounds" and SMALL vibration in driveline! I shows that UJ are OK and when I turn rear axel witout cardan/driveshaft on the is MAJOR play 1-2cm ! my defender have done 180 000km ....! where to start looking? I have not looked for drive flanges yet, have a pair on the shelf dough! Can drive flange cause that much play??? can diff itself be that worn??? front one is pretty OK! any ideas where to start looking? problem "area" is quite limited! //Jan
  3. hello! clutch is now under work! hers what we found: oil have contaminated clutch and clutch itself looked pretty well used too! No gasket on oilseal assy just some red "glue"....! Well we see this afternoon how things sorts out! cheers Jan
  4. hello! I wonder where to start looking: My 110 -97 makes an "metalish klonk sound" when hittin an bump, stone etc in 30mph and up. When hitting an pothole this sound and shake is not present, only with "Bumps". Sound is like "loose things" or there is play somewhere in the steering. Whwn hitting a "bumP" there is slight very short "shake" ( cant realy say its a "wobble) too! This happend only on left hand side frontwheel hit a "bump". ( my car is LHD) any ideas what might be wrong? recently changed chromeball and adjusted preload so it should be OK! anything else that migh cause this? cheers Jan
  5. hello! I like to change my clutch on 300tdi defender -97my. My clutch has developed symptons like: when pushing clutch and 1st gear....lifting clutch...some "slip"...lifting more...more slip and ½ way PANG all at once with hard jerk on driveline! very unpleasant to get it right over that sensetive point! My 110 has covered 180 000km on one clutch! I have read aroud and trying to make a picture what i need...! 1: clutch kit, plate, cover and bearing....here is 2 "schools" some say go for 110 clutch some say go for 130 clutch. so what should i listen to? and waht should i buy? 2: clutch "fork" and re-inforce it for long life! 3: slave cylinder and hydraulic hose 4: what else? some oil seals? 5: something else? Is there brands to choose and ones to avoid? ...once again...something else to do when 110 is in "pieces"? cheers Jan
  6. hello! I wonder how do i install snorkel STC50265? Instruktions are a bit confusing! Can anyone explain what i s correct way to mount the "base" to side of the car att airinlet? I understand that i need to drill a new hole but why do i need to remove whole platic inlet? cheers jan
  7. hello! Now when stripping my 110 so i decided to overhaul my calipers too! I tooke a look at different retailers and there seem to be calipers to SOLID and WENTED discs! When lookin att them i cant see any difference on thos 2 calipers. whats the difference? I have wented discs on my 110 so i orderd new alike. but can someone explaine the differance and can they be used "cross" like wented discs with solid caliper and vice cersa. cheers Jan
  8. VICTORY! and DEFEAT! quess how hubb internals looks like! Tried to loosen 1st lock nut with "hubb tool" not an mm/inch of movment! Soked it all in "rustoil" and hopefully tomorrow im more lucky! Othervice i borrow HD 52mm nut&vrench from work on monday! cheers Jan
  9. Yes I do! Fixed it myself...saved a quid! I rather keep my 110 as standars as possible cause "original" parts are easier to find when thay brake, rather that "custom/special" parts! Our 110 is used as "overland/adventure" car! last summer was "russia-with-rover" with discovery...110 was bought after that trip, cause we realized that disco 2 is too small for longer trips..! cheers Jan
  10. hello! it seems that parts are "electricity glued"...! heres a pic of flange sanded and after some angelgrinding: sadly i cant separare them...getting p** off..! But you can see how worn flange has been before welding..! cheers Jan
  11. Hello! Im no sure if its welded...bacause i found parts of circlip or chims in the "cup" protecting the hubb! there was alot of rust in the "Cup" when i removed it! can clearly see "round leftovers" in it! cheers Jan
  12. hello! When it was time for 1st service on my -97 110tdi i discovered this on one of the front wheels: how do i fix this...it see that chims and circlip has become one with the chaft. I assume that hamering is a "no-no"....any tips or ideas how to do? cheers Jan-one whos sad when people dont take care of they LR's
  13. hello! Problem solved....! I changed fuel filter and all symtoms gone! I must been clogged,or frozen ( -28c ) cause my truck feels like a "rocket" now! cheap fix....this time! cheers Jan
  14. hello! My 300 tdi defe has become noisy! I can hear noise, ticking when i increase RPM:s. I have been listening with an stetoscope and i think that sound is coming from top of injetorpump. a sligt "sofT" ppppprrrrrrr...sound! Not hard and metallic...! car runs well and no other fault detected...! any ideas what might gone wrong? it sounds like this cheers Jan

Im pretty "new" on my 110 300tdi -97 with 170 000km on klock, only few motnths back and i have folowing "problem" when pressing the clutch and releasing it with 1st gear in at fisrt happends nothing, then othing and ½ way i feel that i starts to "take" and the BAM att clutch at once resulting an "clunk" and a jump! when changing 2nd gear little less of this and 3rb furthen littles less and so on! what might be the problem? clutch? splines on drive chaft? flanges? ( if i open flanges do i need a replacement seal), gearbox problem or Transferbox problem? a frame ball bad? "propeller chaft" problem? any ideas? --Jan--

  18. Hello! Im looking for an 2nd set of wheels for my 110. A guy has a set "wolf" for sale, but not sure about this. He says that they have been fitted on 130 "original" and they have "stamped" instansat är 6.5Jx16x20 2160025 2160026 and 0597 No ARN ocr STC number. They been painted white and are now black! unfortunatelly i dont have any pics. Can you help me on this one? --Jan--
