  1. good mornin all! what i want that my rally support gear (2-300kg) can be delivered on right place and in right time. Terrain bad backroads and/or gravel roads with LOTS of potholes. And I dont mind an2'' lift either in ordet to fit larger tyres. 33'' or 35''...! Right now shes on some "black" springs in front and some "yellow" springs in back ( those rear bottom out constantly) and terrafirma big bores in all 4 corners. vehicle had a light wight roofrack, mainly used as sunroof when on stage looking rally cars, 13 000lb winch in front, and as I said 2-300kg gear ( camping gear, fuel, tools, spareparts and so on) @Arjan, any suggestion for good progressive springs and chocks or other good springs for an heavy disco 1? Who is "good" retailer for land rover stuff on "mainland europe" now whn tax and other duties collected UK is no longer an option...! Got some many different andwers to "whats good stuff".....and to trace back whos is manufacturer to "raptor-tyrex" impossible at least online...! some say ome, some say terrafirma HD some sayt britpart HD is great stuff....are they all realy great stuff? pic in bottom is our "heavy" support vehiles that tows and carries main equipment and trailer for race car. Anyone that have experience of "raptor stuff"? have to cope with winch/bumper in front and 2-300kg gear-fuel-campingear on bad russian back tracks. any oppinion? //Jan
  3. hello! Can anyone help me? I hade to change my speedo/rev counter cluster. the old one had a red jumpvire and the new one does not. what is funktion of this red wire? do i need to have it? it feeds current for dash light but why? whats the funktion of that little connector on back of plastic "box" behind of speedo? and an other this...oilpressure light WONT go on when ignition is on, but engine is not. Tested to ground connector, light comes on, so no fault there. oilpressure "sensor" is quite new, maybe 4 months...! //Jan
  4. hello! efter bulb replacenment I cant regulate temperature any more, on drivers side. Everything seems to be ok, but nothing happends when twisting regulator. What might be wrong and hwo to fix it? //JAn
  5. hello! Problem solved: actualy problems solved.....turbo was not in a good nic and timing were "off" too. so whar i did, got an new turbo, blanked EGR, new decat pipe and adjusted timing. WHat a differense...pulls like a train and now more smoking! Yhank for you input all ...! cheers Jan
  6. hi! Some ideas now 4000miles later no oil is dissapearing, and with addition of parrafin ( liquid stuff that been used on heaters) symptomes allmost dissapear. dossage 1l to 70l diesel. //J

Now water or oil usage. no presure in oilfiller cap, air, oil, fuelfilter recently (couple of 1000km a go in september 2013), timingbelt is changed a year ago. blue fumes smell like diesel, not oil. Oilseals, cant tell...not that much of mechanic... some slight vibration at same rpm as blue smoke appears. Its not sluggis ( if you can say that of an 300tdi) starts well and pulls ok. ( with stady supply of black smoke, not much dough) //jan
  9. hello! Wonder if anyone had same problems as I do? blue smoke, 18-2200rpm, them black and then clean. engine is an 300tdi Easy starter, fuel&airfilter new and so on? smoke smells like diesel not burnt oil. what do you think, what should I look efter next? //Jan
  10. hello! I guess I have to gop and buy an compression tester then! Is it difficult to do thet test? What is thread of rover pluggs? To choose is M10 x 1,0, M12 x 1,25, M14 x 1,25, M16 x 1,5 och M18 x 1,5 threads! Yes it's an 14cux EFI machine! And its have got propiate servicing (dokumented by dealer) so it should be in good nick! It runs and starts very well and do not consume any oil between oil changes! Ill get back with com test results! //Jan
  11. Good morning! Is anyone familiar how to "read" rover gauge results? Played aroun with it an measured "longterm lambda" fuel trim settings...! Left siden one that is aprox 250C in temperature is spot on "0" on scale BUT left one with temperature is 190c says "increasing" 2-3 "staples" 16% off "0" point! Same in "short term" only worse the its off 46%. Can anyone help me wthat this means? //Jan
  12. Hello! Did measure temperature on manifolds....one side is 230-250c and other 190-200c ! Is there any tricks to locate where misfire is? Computer give no "misfire" codes on either "banks". cheers Jan

  16. Hello! My disco -98my 3,9 failed MOT last week. CH were too high 250(limit 100) and CO was on the “edge” 0,5(0,5). O2 was not printer on MOT protocol. I can feel a slight “Misfire” on idle, but can’t find out why! Idle is 800+/-75rpm and I can hear some “bludring” in end of tailpipe, so some misfire is present. I have done some basic service: New parts: Pluggs champion yc11 something New pluggleads New rotor New distrb cap New coil New air and fuel filter (all ingnition parts are “lucas” branded) Stepper motor cleaned and working new vacuum hoses and vacuum cheked with startspray, no leakage. flametrap cleaned now "blowing" from heads...(flametrap or oilfiller plugg) runns very well when driven normaly! uses 12mpg average.Milage id 160tkm or 99000miles. My knowledge is now used and I could use some help from fellow V8’s gurus! please! I have an Rover Gauge loggfile if its telling something? or is rovergauge giving any additinal information that is usefull? Cheers Jan
  17. Hello! Im working on my D1 and fitting an new tubular bumper and 12500lb winch and everything goes smoothly untill winch is goin in! It wont fit! Auto cooler is in the way! Now Im asking some help how to solve this problem? Do i need to relocate cooler? If so where and how? Pipe work is quite exact and wont allow much movment! Im asking som hints how to go on!   20. hello! problem solved...! I did found loose conection for "ignition amplifier". All seemed OK, but wire have corroded badly INSIDE conector and made loose/non existing connection! New connectors and some soldering cured problem! thanks all! //Jan
  21. hello! parts used was lucas stuff and pluggs bp6res...lesson learned..! during afternoon this was done 1. cheked spark...big fat spark found 2. fuel presure 2,5 bar ignition on 3bar when trying to start, measured on fuelrail. pump checked running. 3. unplugged battery, no change 4. unplugged MAF, no change 5. unplugged eng tem sensor no change 6. looked at pluggs they a bit damp of gas..! so fuel is present still no go! what Im missing here? when trying to start nice speed on engine but no start..! //Jan
  22. Hi! Yesterday when drivin hone D1 just died on me in trafic lights....like you turner off it on a key! There was no proble starting her again, and hi speed travelling on hiway was no problem either! When i arrived home cheked "usual ones" fuel filter, fuelpump, ignition...! Everything seems ok! Now its a non starter...or you can start her with a bit luck..but engine is running on 3-4cyl, and rough "afterburninG" when shutting off! It feels like ignition cables were in wrong firing order..! I realy cant understand what migt the problem be? Engine got an full service 300 miles agao! new plugs, coil, filters, rotor, cabler etc! cheers Jan
  23. Hello! I ripped off my plastic "sill protectors" today and fins sill OK and no need for repair! Happy with that! What migh be best way to protect my sill for coming off road adventures? bolt on sliders? chaasi bolted sliders? weld an extra sill of steel profile? How have you solved this on you disco 1's? cheers Jan
  24. Hello! After lots of listening i seems that that sound comes aroun starter motor! Cant realy pinpoint "the point" but it feels most when touching starter motor! Any ideas before tearing it loss? //Jan
