  1. from what i remember the burger shack is in the car park bit along with "the toilets" and a coulpe of broken down lorrys old caravans & assorted 4x4's oh and the bonfire is right outside the burger shack too!!! so plenty going on in that area and space id say limited to ten tow cars with trailers in the car park last time i was there people wer towing their tow cars and trailers in to the main part of the site with their challenge trucks!!! nice but we were assured buy the promoter that thats what its all about! but is was a bit wet if its dry it should be ok for traction but the rutts are a deep enough to run a ground in places. could make for an interesting weekend. can't wait.

Thanks for that, I have no intention of dragging the caravan down any ruts ! Have to make sure we are one of the first 10 on site :-)

  2. well it depends what you mean by "very low ground clearance" if you mean normal road going saloon car clearance, then you will be ok to the main car park. but not a chance of getting much any further on to the site.

also by the time you have people turning up with trailers lorries etc.. space in the main car park will be a bit limited so you might want to get some one to reserve you a parking spot :)

Ground clearance is about a foot, it's the approach and departure angles that are terrible !

Is the main car park far away from the burger shack or whatever passes for the main part of the site ?

  3. <SNIP SUMS>

Looking at HobbyWeld, they have no stockists on our patch. I think they would deliver over our way but at quite a cost. Maybe bulk ordering would help here.

If we get enough people then a bulk delivery should be cheaper or even collect from HobbyWeld or Adams, could combine it with a trip to the sea side, plenty of room in the playbus for lots of bottles ;)

There's a huge amount of information at mig-welding.co.uk.

Lots of options an phone numbers, thanks.

  4. Hope someone can point me in the right direction, I keep finding conflicting information.

New winch motor has the usual three terminals, tho rather then labels there are colours.

My problem is which is which ?

Google seems to say Red is A, Yellow F1 and Blue F2

My old motor the Blue would be A and F1 and F2 yellow and red, this is also the case on my mates 8274

  5. 200tdi D1 or 300tdi D1?

Certainly my 300 shape D1 chassis is the same as the 1991 onwards RRC chassis. Different G'box X-member and different A-frame mount for a start.

300Tdi, the RR chassis has the cage and replacement rear x-member attached, plan is to cut it all off and then weld to Disco chassis which will (hopefully !) have less rot.

Not worried about out riggers and will use Disco running gear.

  6. Hold on

I am thinking of just popping a Hydro Pump in the exact pos the a/c pump is now, and

thus use the existing std Serp belt, toothed belts etc would mean the pulley on the pump (with say a 300TDi) pulley

on would be ok, but none of the other pulleys would

    Nige

Nige, mine is driven by a toothed belt driven directly off the crank via a modified pulley, works faultlessly above and below water :P

RED Winches do kits for 200/300Tdi's not sure how the serp on your V8 is routed, can you use part of the 300Tdi system ?

If not, let me have some details, I can ask them to look into it as I know they are keen to make systems for TD5 and V8's.

  7. This one? Maybe I should reinstate the antenna and give it another go! I'd totally abandoned DAB in favour of Internet Radio - but I'll have another look.

    Si

Your one indeed, to be honest I can't remember if I had it on when I was at your place, however I do use the A24 / A29 a lot and have never had a issue, external aerial makes all the difference.
