Could be a plan Tim, will have to see as going early to set some of the trial sections up, you going up in the hybrid as said before or is that so last year
-
I'm going, with lesmond see you there.
-
Jules look on devon 4x4 site garmin 2006c just under £1300 or I use a 128 less than £200 simple marine fish finder but i have never found any fish or punches come to think of it.
-
Hi Les, You and Nick are ok what about us my bitch Phil(Ned Flanders) is 80 next week well he said he's 47 but i think he tells fibs .we will have a laugh ,see you at round 4 about 2pm your Nick will have to set of early long way from Devon.
Hi john, about 5-6 hours yipeee 5 hours of simex thats something to look forward to, see you there
-
Yep, well done to Nick and Frank....
40 Punches....6 hour event, 1/2 hour for the two special stages.....evens out to 8 mins per punch
Mr Walker you need to improve your driving...mind you having a old fat nacker as a biatch ain't doing you no favours....
QT diff guards do work and D44 Ground anchors bend far to easy, bent ours in two places
Simex's do pop off the rims in the most stupid places and took an hour including getting out off the punch we were wedged into on 3 wheels
Another great event organised by Neil and the unsung Marshalls
looking forward to the next one.......well the next flat one anyway..
les, yes i do need to improve my driving, but on the subject of D44 not only does the ground anchor have to pull the rangie up stupid angles, it also has me sat in it, you can only expect so much
-
It was another great day, and well organised by AWDC. Some interesting punches, and for me some interesting dents. A few breakages, plus poping a tyre off a rim. Roll on the next one - all the way to Wales.
P.S.
Will probably find some more breakages when I get in under it!
-
Hi Tangoman , i will see you there early camping ,yes im john saley the drabolive thing with the engine in the back, jacks not arbs and i think i will have a look at machining some myself at that price and i will not buy of ashcrofts over the service i recieved over detroits see you there. cheers john
Hi John, yes i will be there about 2pm like normal all being well, hopefully it will be good weather.
-
The man beat me to it. Ashcrofts are the people to go to, they do a lovely job. I got my diffs pegged by them recently and the quality is superb but you will end up a tad lighter in the wallet department. Unless you're running big power/torque (upwards of 300 lbft), enjoy using the load pedal and have upgraded everything else in the drivetrain then I wouldn't bother pegging. In most cases crownwheel failier is due to wear, poor setup or lubrication issues.
If you do go this route its realistically going to cost you £1k a diff by the time you've got new rings and pinions (3.54s), bearings, housings, diff centres (ARB) and build up charge. Not cheap but you get what you pay for....
I might not be but if I am right the man who started the post already has lockers so without the install of arb's is it about 500 for the pegging will ?

the reason i was going capillary was that i don't want many electrics.
shoudl i stop worry about this though? if i end up going in up to my windscreen then i don't really want everything to stop working.
anythoughts anyone?
Stop worrying about the gauges and start worrying about that V8 if you are going that deep James.
Look into my eyes, look into my eyes, not around the eyes, into the eyes...when you wake up, you'll no longer want to fit a V8, you will want to fit a TDI...one, two, three, you're back in the room!
-
and to explAIN it
ohh it's nice to get my own back on you for once!
Here we go again. In the last post I repeated the joke...and wrote it in KAPITOLS to highlight it! (Geddit??) Never mind, it wasn't that funny to begin with. Let's forget it. And I'm going back to my previous much quicker form of writing no punctuation no problem well no problem for me anyway!
-
Working on other people's vehicles, surely?
Okay, I'm leaving...
Tactical error in the last line, following the lead of Pugwash...but it always ruins a joke when you have to EXPLANE it.
-
Did you do a punctuation course as well?
(edited for punctuatio, grammar and spelling! i'll get my coat)
No I didn't, James. Unfortunately, I've been busy organising the scrapyard outside my back door. But now I know the Punctuation Police are patrolling this forum, I'll spend more time on my posts. However, this may not leave much time for working other people's vehicles.

I'm with secure direct they are great never had a prob and they know what i'm talking about when I ring up when i've done mods, firebond were ok when it was standard then went to sureterm but when I told them I had changed something they charged me £30 admin charge whats that all about.

D'OH! i wasn't very specific was i.... yes, front axle.

JST is refering to the owner of southdown Dave Wilkinson
-
Mine spends less time broke that yours Nick
Will
O K You have a very good point there. but when mine breaks down i don't just buy another one
-
Found this one online:
anyone know of any others or have any experience of this one. I can imagine 'Plain Folk' may be a bit anti4x4 owners if the vehicle is obviously used offroad rather than just a tow truck.
Will
They wont mind Will because yours is normally being towed
-
not sure what we broke - apart from a winch cable and possibly a auto gearbox - as there be no ATF left in it. The site was pretty good, didn't like the ups bit too much though.. a tad tiring to keep running up and down them.
Looks like you need to start fitness training that Les, may I suggest that he pulls the rangie for a few miles every week, that'll get him fitter and faster.
I don't think I'm in any position to remark on my co-drivers fitness really
