  1. Good evening

I am half way through fitting a 2.8 TGV into my defender however I need it to be 24 volt. The glow plugs starter motor ETC are no problem I used wolf parts. The alternator has the vacuum pump built into the back of it. Can I fit a 24 volt regulator in place of the 12 volt one? Is it that easy? If not where can I get a 24 volt alternator that I can fit my vacuum pump on to?

    Thanks for your time

    Cheers Rob

  2. The bulkhead in my 1986 90 is quickley dessolving so I need a new one. Can I fit a TD5 bulkhead with its dash and wiring harness so I can have central locking and electric windows? (with the correct doors). Is it plug and play or will ECU s get in the way?. Any other problems that will trip me up?

    Thanks

  3. When I rebuilt my Wolf gear box I looked for a long time for a answer to this question but could not find a answer so useing the assumption that too much oil is better than not enough I removed the reverse light switch and filled the gearbox untill oil ran out of the hole. I then drove it untill the oil cooler pipes were hot let it cool down then removed the filler/level plug and let a small amount of oil run out to the correct level. BTW it takes a long time to get the gearbox up to temp think I did about 50 miles hope this helps

    cheers Rob

  4. I have a 300 TDI block crank and pistons was running OK when taken out after a wrong bit of fault finding (fault still there after changing enging) you can have it only catch is you have to collect from Leicester

    Any help ?

  5. Thanks for your help but I am having trouble getting things right. Does anyone have any advice for getting the front axle in the right place? I have spent days trying to get the angles right before welding the mounts on. How critcal is the 3 degree caster angle?

    Thanks again for your help

  6. Thanks for that but I do not have any mounts on the chassis I should add this is an project that was started by someone else that I am trying to finnish it will hopefully be a coil sprung 101 when it is finished so is my way a sound way forward ? Is there a better way?

    Thanks Rob

  7. If this would be better in the defender forum please move it.

    Hi all.

Is there a better way of checking caster angle?

I have a empty axle case with the balls bolted onto the ends and a round bar that is a good fit in the bearing holes I am planning on using this to measure the caster angle which I think should be 3 degrees

Would this be the best way of doing it? and is 3 degrees right?

    Thanks Rob

  8. Ehm, this is a joke right?

no. no joke i want better brakes to avoid killing me or someone else

Are you fitting a nuclear reactor or a V8?

    V8 (yank)

Why do you need bigger wheels to go with your huge engine?

I know (think) I will need bigger wheels to fit round the bigger brakes

If you are intending on invading a country let us know which one and we may be able to help.

invading a country????? where the hell did you get this from?

I have talked to a north west tuning company who do 365mm ish discs with bigger calipers but i did not like there sales technique (wanted more for used stuff than i could buy it for retail new one bloke said adapters yes no problems the other who had some wheels to sell said they were weak )

    Why would i be joking?
