  1. Thanks for the suggestions - have managed to get hold of instructions and it does look as if I have got it right (phew) and that the legs have become splayed - probably from too much weight (could be why the rack came in bits and was couriered!). So, all I need to do now is to work out some way of pulling the legs together - probably load straps and a big ratchet!
  2. Please can anyone help me? I have bought an "official" Landrover Roof Rack for my Discovery II (part number - RTC9539AC) from Ebay, it is absolutely genuine with all the right stickers etc - BUT - it came in bits and there were no instructions! OK, so I have managed through some common sense and a lot of trial and error to piece the thing together (took a while but I am there now). However, on trying to attach it to the roof of the Landy somethings appears to be wrong and I am not sure if I have got it wrong, or it is misshappen. The horizonal span between the legs is different by about 2 inches, consequently I can't get the feet into the gutters (which is where I am assuming they should go). All the bits look the same, so I don't think I have got the legs in the wrong corners. So any ideas would be gratefully received. Thanks
  3. Total novice question here but ... I have a 2002 Discovery ES TD5 and want to change to sound system for something a little more modern - i.e something which i can plug my ipod into (or at least will take MP3 cds). What is currently in the vehicle is the original radio cassette and CD changer. I know that taking the radio out and putting in a new one involves special connections at the back but my question is - can I do the swap and still have access to the steering wheel and rear seat controls, or do I loose access to these functions? I used to have Disco TDi, changed the radio and lost the functionality - don't want the same to happen. Alternatively, anyone know any easy way to connect ipod to the system (not including FM transmitters or the bit that goes in the cassette deck. Thanks
  4. In my (previous) Discop 1 Tdi I had similar fun with the temerature guage, for no readily apparent reason it would suddenly go right up, then drop and then keep fluctuating - but with NO water problems. We eventually traced the problem to a broken Earth Strap which was somehow making the temerature guage act like a volt meter! Have no idea why but new earth strap fixed the problem.
