  1. Hi, can anyone tell me what tyre pressures i should use when towing the caravan with my FL2? the handbook is not really helpful and when speaking to other caravaners they seem to be as much in the dark. Normal running with out the van is 36psi front and back. Cheers.
  2. Hi, i have FL2 auto 2011, im sure it says in the manual that if cruise is operating the car will increase in speed going downhill.
  3. Have gone for the XS SD4 which is the automatic with 190bhp engine. Picked it up couple of days ago and if anything it feels a tad more refined than my old Freelander 2, wish i had gone for the auto in the first place. Start-up is instant which the old one never did, in winter with the temp around zero it would missfire a couple of times before starting but would always start. The auto box is a blessing and the extra power is very noticeable , build quality appears as good too. One other thing im pleased about is that they still fit Goodyear tyres, i did 17000 miles on the old car with very little wear to the tyres, not bad for a hard driven 4x4? So, now iv said that better keep my fingers crossed. Hope this is of interest.
  4. I remember signing for my new Freelander 2 GS TD4 just under 2 years ago and thinking " i hope im doing the right thing " Having read articles on various forums the comments on the whole were not good, but there were one or two positive ones for the latest model and it did look so good and on paper it compared well against its rivals. We covered 17000 miles in the time we had it, a lot of motorway miles and a lot towing our caravan up hill and down dale and i have to say its been BLOODY FANTASTIC !!!! never missed a beat, never broke down, nothing fallen off and it still looks like new, it drives like a premium salloon car on the road and is brilliant off road, only its limited ground clearence holding it back on the extreme stuff. So, this morning we have been to sign for our second new Freelander the only difference this time is we have gone for the auto with 190bhp to make towing the caravan a little easier on my left knee (using the clutch in traffic was hard on my arthritic knee ). Thinking about buying a new Freelander? go test drive one, see how good it is. P,S I have no, or never had any connection with Landrover, the company or its dealers.
  5. Hi, my Freelander 2 is just over 12 months old and covered 14k miles, had to top the oil up once before first service, having checked it recently the leval is just between the marks so it has used a bit, compared to my VW Passat (2 yrs old) its not bad , i was forever topping it up, maybe this is a trend with modern oil burning engines ?
  6. Thanks for that D-Lander, suspected something like that. John.
  7. Thanks chaps, put my mind at rest, dont like the dealers to get one over me so like to be armed with some idea of what maybe, or may not be going wrong . Cheers,, John.
  8. Hi, my first post so here goes,, Have just put 300 miles on my new td4-e , when i have switched off and get out of the car i can hear a high pitched tone coming from under the bonnet it sounds like one of the electronic units fastened on between engine and radiator, it goes on for a few seconds then what sounds like a relay or something switching over the sound then comes back but not as loud, that also goes on for a few seconds then stops. This happens every time i switch off, long or short journey, does not make any differance what is on at the time, heating , lights ,etc,, Now i have arranged to have the dealer look at this but any info or ideas would be very much appreciated. Cheers,,, John.
