  1. The tailgate window on my 2001 1.8 freebie Estate won't stay up. It goes up using the switch inside and the key in the tailgate lock but when it reaches where i think it should stop, it gives out a double beep and goes all the way back down again. I've tried re calibrating the system by disconneting the battery but that hasn't worked. I've swapped the relay for one I think I know is ok but that hasn't worked. I've checked the window guides to make sure that there isn't anything obstructing the window but there's nothing. What does the double beep mean? Anyone any ideas?
  2. This has happened to me. Now it could be that the trunking from the heater matrix has come adrift and the air the fan is sending out is just dispersing under the dash but it might be that the cable is stuck between two settings. Now listen very carefully because I'm going to get very technical. Get down under the dash from the passenger door and hit the the heater unit as hard as you can with your hand or something heavy but soft. It worked for me using the handle of a rubber hammer. It may take a couple of strikes but it should free the mechanism. Please don't be tempted to use anything more solid because you'll break the casing permanently. Be warned though, it'll happen again unless you get it sorted properly.
  3. Thanks for your advice. I've come across these 12v 150w in car heaters that plug in to the cigarette lighter socket. They claim to defrost your windscreen quickly. For £15 I'm tempted to give it a try. Anyone have any experience of them?
  4. My 2001 1.8 freelander heater / demister is abysmal. From reading forums it appears that it's an issue with the model rather than a fault on mine. Does anyone know of an after market upgrade or modification that will improve the problem. I'd consider fitting a heater unit from a Lada or a Skoda if I thought it would help (even they can't be as bad as the freelander).
