  1. Hi,

I've been told that 'Q' plating my disco is a good idea, mainly for insurance etc.

Has anyone had experiance doing this? could do with some advice on what i need to do to make it elegible for a Q plate.

Also if anyone has found it cheaper to insure, tax and any other things that may have worked out better.

    Cheers,

    Sean

  2. Hi,

I've just removed the Viscus fan on my v8 disco and wired the standard electric fans up to a switch in the cab.

Are the standard fans enough if always running to cool the engine or will i need to get after market fans to stick to the back of the radiator?

    Cheers,

    Sean

  3. Hi,

I've been told by a friend that i can lift my suspension on my disco using 4" x 2" box section. Has anyone had experience doing this?

I will be putting +2" springs and shocks on soon and wanted to take it to 4" without spending £60 on spacers.

Another thing i've noticed is that by putting spacers on the front it will lift the springs and dampers, on the back it only lifts the springs, Do's this mean that the front will sit 2" higher than the back??

    Cheers,

    Sean

  4. The way i did it (which i wouldn't recommend after doing it) was wire it to the battery setting it off... which will scare you of airbags for life.

Then bent the corners back and there are 4 10mm bolts, two to get from at the top and two by pulling the glove box right down.

  5. That was how i was thinking of doing it. Also was thinking of using the corners from around the back door and moving them forward to the back of the cab and using maybe aluminium sheet to cover the rest up. i suppose if i put enough time into the filling and sanding it could look good.

Another thing i was wondering was the fuel tank, as i'm planning on bobtailing it. Are there any places recommended for getting a tank that would sit behind the cab?

    Cheers,

  6. You may hear the ABS pump kick in as a sort of buzzing noise? It can activate when it shouldnt and as said above you feel it as a vibration through the pedal. If this happens its usualy because of damaged to the toothed ring on one wheel.

When the wheel bearings are poorly adjusted the front sensors work out of their locating bush, I dont know if this could cause it. I would start by checking all wheel bearings are good and properly adjusted. After that you could try the paperclip trick and see if it stored a fault code for a corner but its probably unlikely!

To be honest, mine does the very same thing. Once in a blue moon I feel the ABS activate, always when im going slowly and braking gently and its on and off for a split second then doesnt do it for days/weeks. I have chosen to ignore it!

That sounds like the problem, I'll have a check like you said but if its nothing too serious like you say i'll ignore it :D.

    Cheers

  7. Hi, I've recentley bought a 1994 Discovery ES V8i

Have one problem with it. Sometimes when i brake it makes a strange electrical sounding noise and what seems

    like the ABS kicks in.

I could understand under hard braking but even under slight braking it happens.

Do's anyone have any idea what could be happening?

    Cheers, Sean
