Hi,
I've been told that 'Q' plating my disco is a good idea, mainly for insurance etc.
Has anyone had experiance doing this? could do with some advice on what i need to do to make it elegible for a Q plate.
Also if anyone has found it cheaper to insure, tax and any other things that may have worked out better.
Cheers,
Sean
Do's anyone know the head size of the bolts on the fuel tank, think its an imperial size and i dont have a metric socket close enough? just keeps spinning on the bolt.

Hi,
I've just removed the Viscus fan on my v8 disco and wired the standard electric fans up to a switch in the cab.
Are the standard fans enough if always running to cool the engine or will i need to get after market fans to stick to the back of the radiator?
Cheers,
Sean
Hi,
I've been told by a friend that i can lift my suspension on my disco using 4" x 2" box section. Has anyone had experience doing this?
I will be putting +2" springs and shocks on soon and wanted to take it to 4" without spending £60 on spacers.
Another thing i've noticed is that by putting spacers on the front it will lift the springs and dampers, on the back it only lifts the springs, Do's this mean that the front will sit 2" higher than the back??
Cheers,
Sean
I've wired mine to the plug for the cd head unit, then ran the ariel wire through the hole above the throttle, accross the back of the engine bay and up to the ariel.
Hi, Do's anyone know if a 2 inch suspension lift from a 300 series defender will fit on a Discovery 1?
My friend has bought a defender which comes with the kit and was planning on swapping it on to mine.

Hi,
Are there any good tutorials (preferably with pictures) of how to lift Discovery 1 Body?
Thats next job with mine but i want to make sure i do it right
Cheers,
Sean
The way i did it (which i wouldn't recommend after doing it) was wire it to the battery setting it off... which will scare you of airbags for life.
Then bent the corners back and there are 4 10mm bolts, two to get from at the top and two by pulling the glove box right down.
Thanks for the reply's, seems in the link you've sent me he has also used 3 door panels so think i might go that way about it rather than welding doors shut and filling.
Cheers,
Sean
That was how i was thinking of doing it. Also was thinking of using the corners from around the back door and moving them forward to the back of the cab and using maybe aluminium sheet to cover the rest up. i suppose if i put enough time into the filling and sanding it could look good.
Another thing i was wondering was the fuel tank, as i'm planning on bobtailing it. Are there any places recommended for getting a tank that would sit behind the cab?
Cheers,
Sean
Hi,
I have a discovery v8i 5 door and i'm wanting to convert it to a pickup.
Has anyone had any experience converting a 5 door? is there any easy way of doing it using as many body parts already on
it?
Cheers,
Sean

Give them a try see what they say.
Hi, I've recentley bought a 1994 Discovery ES V8i
Have one problem with it. Sometimes when i brake it makes a strange electrical sounding noise and what seems
like the ABS kicks in.
I could understand under hard braking but even under slight braking it happens.
Do's anyone have any idea what could be happening?
Cheers, Sean
