  2. Just in case i,v had brain fade-what would you say the rough settings should be for a RV8 idle valve?

I,v been fine tuning the VE table and i,m happy with that and this problem has been happening from the start and any amount of adjustment doesnt seem to change it- but one thing i have noticed is that i,v had to recalibrate the throttle pot twice-I checked it with a multimeter and all seems ok-I wonder if it was sending dodgy signals at idle and that is the problem

  5. I have a promlem with hot starting with MS2 with edis ign-When starting hot the idle rises and falls until the wideband lambda heats up and sets.The engine then runs perfectly at 14AFR.I have played about with the EGO and AE with no success-Anybody got any ideas
  6. Yes i'v seen the stroker kits-crazy prices- rover appear to have stroked the 3.5 for the australian market-think it was called the iceberg engine and was used in the P76 model. Looking at the spec of this engine it seems to be a 4.2 crank and conrods with one off pistons. Now the 5.0lt is running brilliantly in the 90 i'm just working out a project with this 3.5 block- so looking for something a bit more exotic than just comp ratio/cam and head work
  7. I have been reading recently about 3.8 v8's using the 3.5 block and 4.2 crankshaft- has anybody got any details on this-ie what conrods and pistons etc We have a brand new 3.5 block here just dying to have something done to it!!
  8. Sorted ! VR sensor -reversed wiring and bingo-now on with tuning the ignition table.I have been playing around with the table and the engine runs best with a maximum of 31deg advance-does anybody know what a standard 4.6's maximum advance is in the land rover ecu?
  9. Hi all-just fitted edis 8 to ms2 equiped 4.6-not starting!! RPM signal disappears after about 3 seconds of cranking-anybody got any idea's ?-i'v not got the saw wire connected to check the timing and on initial cranking it shows 20deg advanced then quickly drops down to 10 deg? I'v thought of duff vr pick up-but it came from a running car-also the engine has a 3.9 serpentine front on it and mounting the trigger wheel was a problem.If the tw was mounted on the back of the pulley the balance rim had to be left off-terrific wobble on start up so mounted it between the outer pulley and the damper- the trouble with this settup is that the tw is tight up the damper and the same diameter and i'm wondering if the vr sensor is getting a clean signal
  10. Has anybody had any problems using the intermediate front cover ERR4813 on a v8. I have used a new one on a 4.6 block. The dissy was very tight to fit and in fact needed tapping down with a rubber hammer to seat down.There is something drastically wrong someware as it destroy's the dissy and drive within in 200 miles.The front cover used was brand new-i have a used unit and the dissy just pushes in to place by hand-Has anybody else had problems with these new units or with fitting it to a 4.6 block?

  12. The EGO C ontrol could be the prob -i have the following settings sensor-single wideband ignition events-33 controller step size-2 controller auth-5 active above-71 deg active above-1000rpm active below tps- 50 active below map-75 active above map 40 algorthm-simple

I'v had it on open and closed loop and tried the warm up enrichment up and down.One thing i have noticed is that the faster cold idle rpm doesnt kick in till its been rev'ed and running for a couple of mins.At mid temp if I switch the ignition on and wait until the lambda has set up it starts perfect?
  14. I have set Megasquirt up on the 90 and it runs great! The engine starts from cold and runs up to temp without touching the throttle.If then you switch off and leave cool down to mid temp and then restart the idle fluctuates between 600 and 1200 rpm until the engine is rev'ed to 1500rpm for a few seconds and then released to idle.I have an Innovate lc01 wideband lambda fitted and the flucuating idle seems to be linked to the lambda heating up and setting itself- Anybody got any ideas?

  16. Hi Nige- yeap tried old and new range rover ones.I was wondering if it was something to do woth driving a motor ie the injection pump. I have been using 30amp units-wonder if 40amp would make any difference??
  17. Hi all- I'v got the 90 going brilliantly on the megasquirt but keep having a problem with the fuel relay failing.It runs the fuel pump and lambda.Have tested all the wiring-all ok-and tried different relays-even shelling out for a range rover one.All to no avail-Anybody got any ideas??
  18. IT RUNS!!!!!! - Faulty relay on fuel pump supply -failing under load -it has now been stamped on and thrown into the sea !!!! I presume the rising and falling idle speed is due to it needing tuning?? So all you guys- where do i start-or do i just let tuning studio do it?

One thing I have noticed that, compared to earlier range rover injection systems, this 4.6 unit has a diaphram unit on the inlet of the fuel rail.There doesnt seem to be a problem with the return pipe and the fuel pressure is constant at 39psi-I have an adjustable fuel reg on it. Just to give everbody an idea where i'm at- i'm an engineer at heart-NOT a computer whizz -I'm surprised there's not a stage by stage set up list
  20. Tried to upload the MS spec file-wont accept it!!

The MS is set up for fuel only with the trigger signal from the neg terminal on coil.The Req fuel setting was calculated in megatune - 20.20 /10.10 .From memory the injector pulse reading when cranking was 7.24.Air and coolant readings were correct and the tps was correct.MAP reading was 101 changing to 98 when cranking.I dont know where Nig has got that it has been set up for direct coil drivers thats unless I have had total brain fade and missed it in set up
  22. Yes i am getting an RPM reading in Megatune and a good spark when cranking.After cranking the plugs are wet-it did fire once and ran as tho it was badly retarded-and we have checked the timing which hasnt changed

Hi all- it appears to be set up ok- have rpm reading and in fact all the readings-done wiring check-several times.Trigger signal comes from neg terminal on coil and yes i have a good spark and fuel. There is a boost pack on the ignition from rpi and the timing hasnt been changed. My next move is to stop the fuelling and give it a spray of ether to see if it fires on that!!!

I have a 4.6 engine with the intermediate front cover with a dissy and carb.Decided to go injection to help with extreme vehicle angles off road.After looking around picked megasquirt as it seemed to have good reports.The ms2 and loom was supplied by phil at extraefi who loaded all the specs on to the unit.I used the injection hardware from the 1995 to 1998 4.6 range rover with the rv8 idle valve,tps, coolant and air temp sensors.The ms2 has a map sensor built in. After everything has been fitted -checked and double checked the engine will not fire!! The ignition has not been touched since it ran well on the carb-all i have done is put the injection unit on Anyone any idea,s cos iv been on it a week and am slowly going mad
