Thanks Bill, It seems that the LT77 from a pre Tdi 90 or 110 has a much shorter bellhousing, is that what you call a "short shaft"?
Can anyone tell me how long one of those is please.
Thanks, Paul.

The lane I think Dale is referring to is a short section of RB (RUPP) that goes from the county boundary at SU108230 North West to another BOAT at SU104235.
This is a example of how daft the NERC act has made things. One lane but two county councils. One council did their duty, looked at the evidence and upgraded a RUPP to a BOAT. The neighbouring council didn't bother. Now a lane that must have vehicular rights along it's entire length could be lost.
Sorry I've never driven it, no evidence listed on grey Wayfinder either.

Hi everyone! I've browsed through this forum and there seem to be some technical experts here!!
I'm running a 3.5 V8 through a Series III gearbox and I'd like to fit a later gearbox from a Defender or Disco, preferably a auto. I've read all the other threads on this subject so know roughly whats involved.
I can get hold of a auto box from a V8 Disco, has anyone fitted one of these to a Series? Mine is a 88" and my main concern is will the rear prop bind up with the suspension on full droop? and will the front prop clear the bellhousing cross member?
I measured the length of the manual box in my mates 200 tdi Disco, it seems around 10" longer than the Series box. Will a auto be the same length?
Is there a more suitable box (shorter!) available, manual or auto?
I really don't want to move the engine forward as I want to keep the Series front.
Thanks in advance!!

Nige, yes it should be a good thing! I've known him for 40 odd years.
Jim, he makes wiring harnesses for race cars and bikes. F3, touring car, rally, superbike, sidecar, Caterham etc, etc.
