  1. Is it best to fit new universal joints or replace the complete propshaft with a complete cheap 'British' Part? I am thinking that the splined slider may go sooner rather than later. Also, I do not know if any damage has been done to the propshaft as the joints are very loose. I hope that a new complete propshaft with come with new nuts & bolts. PS Thanks to previous help for tracking down the cause of the vibration when accelerating. PS Are gaiters worth fitting?
  2. Thanks for those suggestions - I will crawl around and have a look. By the way, I was very pleased with my new grease gun until I found that I will need a very fine nozzle to reach the grease nipples on the UJ bearings.
  3. Although my Defender has lots of odd vibrations, squeaks, rattles & roles, I have been feeling a heavier vibration, particularly when accelerating up hill. I suspect it is a worn bearing or bush somewhere but can anyone save me searching and suggest some possibles? PS I am very new to Land Rovers & just finding my way round. It's a 'P' reg about 14 years old.
  4. Hello, I'm trying to search for 'ecs' (emission control system) in the Defender forum but no results come up after a Search. What am I doing wrong?

    Regards, Chris

  5. Hello, can you help a new member of the forum. We have a '93 Defender 300Tdi which I am trying to get to know & fix as much as possible myself. The RH rear tail light is not working. I have measured a low voltage of about 5V which, I assume, means that there is a duff connection somewhere. I wonder if anyone can help narrow down my search. The first place I will look is where the live feed separates to the front RH side light and rear RH tail light, if I'm reading the wiring diagram correct. Do the live feeds separate close to the fuse box? Regards, Chris
