  1. Some good and useful information begginging to appear thanks Captain Slow and Old hand hopefully something will become of this thread and mega shift will be sorted for the ZF boxes in due course.
  2. Thanks Nige that is a useful sum up and may explain why the two guys I know who have done the conversion both feel the power gain by fitting a 4.6 was a little less than they expected. I was quoted $2100 to supply fit and Dyno set up Megasquirt so other tuning options like cam were looked at first but I can see if the engine electronic control isnt optomised it may be the way to consider.
  3. Hi Nige, As you, I have found so little on this subject but I am talking to a local guy here in NZ who is megasquirt agent and has good reports of work he has done and he like me is seaching for codes and data for the ZF so hopefully he knows or finds some one who knows the answers but I wont hold my breath. He has set up Mega shift on Holdens I think so has some good knowledge. If he gets anything usefull and is willing I shall post it here. At the danger of steering this thread away from the prime question what are the benefits of mega squirting the 4.6V8 as i have been told only slight gains in power/economy available and as it has coil packs tucked at the back of engine already I dont see how it improves water proofing much which would be the primary need for it in my use or am I missing something obvious.
  4. Hi I am bassed in New Zealand and am in the process of getting the parts together to convert my 19j diesel engined ninety into a 4.8V8 with ZF Auto box. I am interested in using a mega shift ecu to control the changes. Has anyone used Mega shift in this way, have source codes and any other usefull information they are willing to share. I see compushift has been successfully used but like the idea of mega shift as would prefer to put the money saved to other parts of the conversion. Apologies if this has been addressed in other areas of this site but I have spent hours trawling the net looking for answers with very little luck.
  5. Thanks for answers but I'm going the Auto route and have spoken to both guys in club they both used the ones out of their donor P38 one used compushift and the other cobbled something together by modifying the solenoids but he is interested in looking at Mega shift and pointing me in that direction as cheeper than compushift so any one used mega shift/compushift that can report on the pros and cons of either systems?
  6. I am going to do this conversion into my 90 that is currently fitted with original 19J tdi and LT77 box . I know of two such conversions in my club (Rotorua Land Rover Enthusiast Club New Zealand) and both landies have aproached the install with different gear box ideas one uses disco Auto and the other uses the P38 gearbox with a compushift set up. Is any one here able to reccomend best way to go as both have advantages Disco being simpler and cheaper whilst P38 slightly stronger but more expensive when factoring in compushift. I have a complete P38 sitting in my garage ready for the conversion so could use its gearbox but if I were to sell the gearbox I would be able to afford a disco gearbox. I may also have access to a 4.2v8 with auto box from a Range Rover which a friend has been using for a few years so is known to be reliable so also toying with selling p38 and getting this pros/cons? Thanks G
