  1. Thanks for the reply Tim, That's my dilema you see. I love the D3 and I love the new defender, as owned by Mr Woo. I need to choose a vehicle that will do a combination of comfortable daily driver, small enough for the wife (peugeot 206cc) to be confident in driving, big enough for the run to the tip(now a weekly chore for me it would seem) and off road toy for both me and the wife. The new 90 would have been the answer but those rear seats.
  2. Decisions, decsions. 2007 defender or a D3 ? How does one decide?
  3. Hey jim, I hope you don't see the shogun as an alternative to a 90 mate. In fact I don't think there is an alternative to a 90, unless it's a disco of course Mr Woo, I just love your motor, 3k less for non air con hmmmmm whats the heater like please? The only thing I am unsure of is the rear seats, any chance of a photo wih them packed away please? Is there room for tools and stuff? When are you planning on posting some off roading pictures?
  4. Lucky man. Out of interest, are the new seats not good enough then please? Oo, and looking forward to those pictures
  5. You didnt move to Luton did ya?
  6. Hmm, If our Kev should get to read this, I am beginning to think that I might be beter offf looking for a 2005/2006 model, hey even a Limited Edition Black
  7. Do Kev Baldwins Mud RAils off set the seat then please ralph?
  8. Hmm, should I keep the Disco2 or go for 2007MYdef?
  9. Rich, I have not driven it but I like the look of it. As you have driven, can you tell me please, has the "revised seating arrangement" reduced the chance of suffering from defender elbow?
  10. I was getting about 28 im my D1
  11. So why is there so much difference do you think between your consumption amd mine?
  12. manual. sorry should have said
  13. Hi all, I have been monitoring my fuel consumption on my 2001 Td5. I find that in return for a full tank of diesel I am getting a return of 400 miles. A friend of mine who lives in spain, has the same vehicle albeit a 2003 model. He is getting 500 miles to the tank. Can anyone give me an idea if mine is doing well or badly please as I feel sure that my D1 did a lot more than 400 to the tank. regards T
  14. Hmmm, now the little plastic thing that keeps the fuel filler plate shut has stopped working. Amazing, metal pistoned solenoid activated lock and the female part is plastic !!!! As for going back to the TDi. The series 2 looks better than the S1 and there's no oil leaks on my drive.....yet I have asked myself why I didn't buy a D3 and get a suzuki for off roading. (hahahahahahahaha) Has anyone seen the D2 in the latest LROI Mag?
  15. How do you do that please mate?
  16. Two phots required. Door frame leak Bobble bit on the transfer case. I will take a picture of what I am talking about mate.

    Free shower

Been there in the past in the D1. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT use any form of electrical heater like a hairdryer or similar to dry the headlining. It has been known to ignite. Close all windows and turn up car heating to full capacity and dry it that way or naturally.
  18. I need to also find out if I have the right transfer case, otherwise CDL is a £600 fitment. I am suprised the "rain water leak onto the drivers seat when you open the door when it's raining" problem hasnt been fixed. We will have to start a "These are a list of mods required for the D2" thread BM
  19. Thanks for the replies guys, I don't have a clue where the MAF sensor is let alone know what it looks like to unplug it. CAn you point me in the direction of a photo at all please? I will check the ECU, I wonder if the garage putting a brand new battery in before I purchased means they cleaned it already. This changing of loom, is it idiot proof? I have heard of TD5 alive but your location is too far away for me, do you have a rep in the Avon area at all please? And yes BM, maybe I should have got a facelift....maybe I still can once the V5 pops through the door. What do you reckon? The wife thinks I'm mad to consider pxing it for a faclift
  20. Help. I finally prised the cash out of my tighly clenched fists and got rid of the 300tdi and bought a TD5 Two weeks into ownership and I'm not so sure I did the right thing. I have a sort of out of sync grumble from the engine in third gear. If it was a V8 I'd be fairly certain that the timing was slightly out but in a TD5 It's a beauty of a motor, pre face lift,7 seat GS,Metallic Bronze, first reg in July 2001, no cdl (but that can be sorted.) The first owner appears to have been Land Rover as the vehicle was not prepped for sale until April 2002 by Land Rover Vehicles in Warwickshire (Gaydon?), then Ottens sold it to a lady in Salisbury then Halls sold it to me. 58k miles ont the clock. Ive done about 400 miles and £80 in fuel since purchase. I believe that either, It has a dirty MAF sensor or it has a MAF problem or it needs putting on a computer and the timing/ turbo kick in sorted out. As you know I am not a mechanic so dont know the answer, do I have a minor problem or am I in for a shock? I was going to go for a face lift model but I offroaded the last disco and will probably do so in this. Any opinions please?
  21. That will explain why I have no seen your rig off road. more details please. shame its a v8
