  1. hi chaps.... sorry for the delay - I been out earning a living allday! yeh yeh. alright, they are BOOST alloys not freestyle! The wheel arch protectors are my own design, made out of chopped up lorry mudflaps [the anti-spray style]... I HATE the way, otherwise, that all the c*** gets thrown up inside the rear wheel arches .. and up over the outrigger behind the front wheel.... SO..... I fashion them up to fit inside the body/wheelbox. not a big job, honest! yes, the accessory position refers to the ignition switch - in my opinion, it is b****y annoying, otherwise, that you have to have the ignition on to lower or raise windows... oh, and me being cheapskate , I just go down the breakers and get a wiper delay box-thingy from something like an old rover - then splice it in to the wiring in the rear door - piece of p**** really...... the high level brake light is a freelander one, mounted on the panel above the rear door - kinda COOL 'cos its angled to miss the rear wash jet, and says "landrover" ......... BUT yes, you are correct, the wiring loom has the connection already, behind the RH lamps - so I just splice into that... sound deadening - its a mixture of commercially bought and, again, my own design - I do lots road mileage AND fair amount off-road in connection with motorsport organisation ..
  2. hi there ... my 2007 defender was collected in the storms last friday - quite a baptism for it! - braving the flooded roads to rescue the wife from the gridlocked M5 motorway... 2007 Defender 90 county hardtop with Air con, abs/traction, heated seats/screen, freestyle alloys/antiroll bars I am now busy attending to the bits that Landrover always seem to forget..... sound deadening, intermittant rear wiper, wheel arch protectors, rustproofing, heated mirrors, high level brake light, windows that work on 'accessory' position etc etc etc etc.... What did it replace?.. well, it hasnt yet [ADVERT] - but will be selling the 2002 TD5 defender which has the same spec [only without the transit engine/gearbox, obviously]
  3. yes, I went last week - AND I am just about to order a 90 hardtop with all the extras boxes ticked........ [my third new 90 since 1999] The day is very well organised - the logistics must be huge.... One of the chappies told me that it is the FIRST such event that LR have ever done for Defender.... The things are pretty regular for the rest of the range [i have been on a few of those too] Try to get there early and sign-on, so that you can be in the first off-road group [less waiting and the cars are all CLEAN]. Equally, when you get back from off-road, sign on quickly for the on-road to get the best choice. I was also told that, it is precisely because defender 07 is sooooooo capable, that they allow us to drive the vehicles off-road unaccompanied....... those descents would be too much for the varied experience of drivers if they were in earlier defenders !!! Copying from my post elsewhere:- What did I like?:- -new engine and gearbox and dash [of course] -and I always loathed the useless flap vents below the screen in any case What was I disappointed about?:- -the same Austin Metro coloum stalks with same steering wheel -the dammed seat-belt still gets caught in the door-catch [grrrrrrrrr] -why did they put the rear speakers in the lower corners, behind the rear seats - they should be where I put mine, in the corner, up above the rear windows -still no delay wipe/programmed wash to the rear screen [so I will just have to modify that omission again, I guess] What did I notice?:- -good "real-world" driveability - certainly over the standard factory TD5 - although less of an advance over my current TD5 which has overdrive and full sound-deadening -as stated by everyone here before, truly extraordinary advances in off-road performance and throttle control -all "freestyle" wheel options now have the anti-rollbars fitted front and rear. -the cairns blue does indeed look dead cool -90's with those forward rear seats have lower, re-profiled wheelboxes for the seats to sit on, but headroom is still VERY tight there - its a jolly neat and easy seat operation though....
  4. "........The early press pics were a rush-job (the car was actually a Td5!) prompted by the infamous camera-phone leaked interior shot so there's a few things that were on those pics that never made it into production. The silver dash has gone and the rear Defender badge is now a sticker rather than the raised style of lettering to match the bonnet lettering............." Oh right, thanks for that - so the early brochures [with those pictures] will become valuable eh? hee-hee Can you confirm that the steering and suspension is tweaked in the '07 ?? regards PT
  5. yes, I tried one too - AND I am just about to order a 90 hardtop with all the extras boxes ticked........ [my third new 90 since 1999] What did I like?:- -new engine and gearbox and dash [of course] -and I always loathed the useless flap vents below the screen in any case What was I disappointed about?:- -the same Austin Metro coloum stalks with same steering wheel -the dammed seat-belt still gets caught in the door-catch [grrrrrrrrr] -why did they put the rear speakers in the lower corners, behind the rear seats - they should be where I put mine, in the corner, up above the rear windows -still no delay wipe/programmed wash to the rear screen [so I will just have to modify that omission again, I guess] What did I notice?:- -good "real-world" driveability - certainly over the standard factory TD5 - although less of an advance over my current TD5 which has overdrive and full sound-deadening -as stated by everyone here before, truly extraordinary advances in off-road performance and throttle control -all "freestyle" wheel options now have the anti-rollbars fitted front and rear. -the cairns blue does indeed look dead cool What puzzled me?:- -the XS version seems to have lost its silver finish to the centre console - as in TD5 version, and as in the earlier brochures and taster pictures. -90's with those forward rear seats have lower, re-profiled wheelboxes for the seats to sit on, but headroom is still VERY tight there - its a jolly neat and easy seat operation though.... -no brochures were freely given out... however, I did beg one off a kindly launch-team member .. disappointed to find it does not contain a spec/options sheet
